Judge Guzman is two different people. one day he may actually seem pleasant, but at the flip of a switch, he's treating you as if you're not good enough breathing the air in his courtroom. he will make terrible pretrial rulings and refuse to explain the reasoning that led him to his ruling. he completely ignores constitutional laws and is not knowledgeable about the purpose of fairly routinely used motions that he should definitely know. He is neither pro prosecution nor pro defense. He evenhandedly hates everyone and is equally miserable to all. Unfortunately, that means defendants do not get to enjoy basic rights. The only upside is that your clients rights are violated while the DA gets treated like scum as well. Good luck -- PAPER HIM!

This judge is a joke and an embarrassment to out judicial system! He never even reads the file or makes his own decision he just goes off of whatever the day wants to be done this is so much crap and something needs to be done about it and I'm going to be the one to make sure something gets done about it cuz this is not okay stealing time from somebody's life when the accuser is the one who's lying

This man is incredible! Had a preliminary hearing that went an entire day. He did not rush us and was just as engaged in the hearing on the closing as he was on the first. Also did a jury trial before him. Again he was incredible - NOT GUILTY verdict too. FYI he warned the DA in chambers she was going to lose the case if it went to the jury and the DA went ahead and tried the case anyway!

Judge Guzman has a strange imperiousness about him -- someone should tell him he is a low-end local judge in Torrance. It is generally painful to be in his court.
