100% DING/ 170.6. He apparently enjoys listening to liars and approves their rant. Just another very bad Stanley Mosk Judge. File your cases elsewhere. Not much left in this courthouse. It's a human cesspool. From the judges to the filthy toilets, fat piggy brain dead court staff, "moo" sheriffs, greasy/sooty hallway benches and more.

Ignores case law, refuses to sanction egregious defense behavior, pro-defendant, doesn't read the plaintiff's papers, is shocked when told something right in the papers he should have read, defense oriented. I will 170.6 him in the future.

This judge is rarely prepared. He shoots from the hip of who he wants to win. If you piss him off look out because he’s passive aggressive and will find the smallest of ways to rule against you. He’s dismissive and is chauvinistic. Doesn’t respect or seem to like minority female attorneys. He cuts you off and won’t let you finish arguments but gives deference to male attorneys even if the law is on your side. If you have an esoteric issue in a case or anything complex run don’t walk. Even the basic, routine issues he doesn’t follow. He just rules for whoever he wants. He also lets his clerk run the show.

I'm quite surprised to see the hostile reviews of Judge Landin . I'm a plaintiffs' lawyer, and certainly don't view Judge Landin as "defense oriented" as some have claimed. In my experience, Judge Landin is prepared, even-tempered, reviews the papers, considers arguments, and rules decisively.

This judge is unqualified to be on the bench presiding over civil cases and is an embarrassment to the judiciary. Flagrant and deliberate disregard for the facts and even blackletter law, unabashedly biased, intellectually dishonest and lazy. Over thirty years in practice and I've never been before a worse judge. Biased, lazy, without a sense of the craft of judging or his place in the judicial system, of middling intellect, unfair and arrogant, a complete disaster that should have him before the CJP tomorrow.

If you read this before a civil matter goes before this judge, make sure you request another judge immediately. He is incredibly biased and if he doesn't like you or your attorney you will lose. He flagrantly disregarded the law in my case, knowing I would have to appeal and therefore costing me more time and money. This man should NOT be on the bench.

Probably one of the worst judges in the courthouse. He seems nice but if you have a complex matter you should run. He will not suit the case or serve your client well. He has a criminal background and lacks the experience in civil law to be able to navigate through basic issues that come up routinely in civil cases.

He cannot understand anything complex. If you have a business litigation matter involving anything that is not simple, he won't get it. Very defense oriented. While not quite bright, he is generally polite and even tempered.

Biased, does not know the law, and does not understand the law or read the pleadings. Will pick a side and be biased against the other one in his rulings. He lets his emotions get the best of him where many of his rulings make absolutely no sense. He will issue sanctions on discovery where the judicial council clearly intends it to be propounded on a particular party which shows his bias and not reading the papers. If you challenge him on the law he will make you pay for it. He looks at vigorous advocacy as an affront to him and is punishing. He does what he wants to do even when clear logic or common sense dictates something different.

Very defense oriented from what I can see so far. Will find a way to rule in favor of defense. And will sanction plaintiff side. Perhaps he does not realize what he is doing but based on my own experience and sitting through other hearings, his leanings are towards the defense whether it is a discovery motion, sanctions, demurrer, etc. Judge Raphael who he replaced seemed a better fit.
