Mr Flynn destroyed my relationship with my child, took away all rights to see him and handed him over to two known drug addicts that lied with the help of the other parents “mother” in court. Police officers testified for me and we had proof of violence and drugs in the other parents home.. tragically, my child was removed less than two weeks later while the parent and his “girlfriend” were repeatedly arrested for violence and drug use and my child was put in the foster home system. My attorney presented police reports and evidence during our trial, but Flynn just didn’t like me or really care about my child as I told the truth. To this day it has severely damaged my child and myself and was very traumatic. My case was known in the courts for what he did and he “retired” shortly after.[Redacted]

I recently had Judge John Flynn preside in my case and not only does he seem not to be active with the bar but he also is very sexist and rude to myself and other women in the court room. He definitely did not hide his dislike and deep hate towards woman. His angerly tone and behavior towards me was truly noticed and he failed to review important case evidence submitted. He also stated he would hold me contempt to court for exercising mine and my children from exercising their 1st amendment given right. He is all pro father's rights even thought there is proof of domestic violence and the father has anger issue and drug user. This man granted him the right to be alone with my children and not only that I have to give this man that has been out of my children's life details of my everyday movement with my kids. He definitely is not looking out for the best interest of the children nor should he be handling family law cases in Riverside, CA nor in any place. He also would reprimand me for speaking my mind and stating facts about my case. FLYNN should not be near any court room let alone deciding for the life of others.

I recently read all the transcripts from my case and can not believe how much pointless crap comes out of this Judges mouth. [Redacted]
My Attorney: I don’t have a date when he’s going to have that done. But we would anticipate it would be done before September 25th,because that’s the date that the offices had picked as an agreed upon continuance date based on the EXPERTS SAYING THAT THEY WOULD BE DONE.
Judge Flynn: How much time do you think—ASSUMING YOU DON’T REALLY KNOW until you see Mr. Sperry, what would be your best estimate on the remaining time including Mr. Sperry, ASSUMING Mr. Sperry DOESN’T BREAK LOOSE, How much time remaining in the issues of CHILD CUSTODY, VISITATION, CHILD SUPPORT and ATTORNEYS FEE—HOW MUCH TIME FOR THAT TRIAL?

My children were 8 and 9 when my case started and at the time the conversation above occurred, I only had one minor child left who was 17 years old. The motion Flynn is talking about is over a Ex Parte my ex-wife filed requesting a court order that she be the one to drive my 17- and 18-year-old children to and from visiting with me. This makes absolutely no sense because they had their own vehicles to drive themselves. What a WASTE of THE COURTS TIME to be ASSUMING THINGS and ENTERTAINING RIDICULOUS FRIVOLOUS MOTIONS!

It is crazy how Judge Flynn has more complaint comments and negative ratings than any other judge listed for Orange County. It is also crazy that for some reason the random good comments that pop up on here seem more geared towards talking nonsense to the other reviewers instead of having anything truthfully good to say about this idiot who is a disgrace to the justice system. This guy is the biggest moron anyone could possibly have to deal with. It seems pretty clear if he hung himself the world, would be way better off. He is a pathetic excuse for a human being let alone judge. He is a disgrace to his own family as well as the position he has as a judge. There is no way so many random people who are complete strangers to each other and that have never had a conversation with each other could ALL basically have the same negative stuff to say about this dipstick! John Flynn 111 is an absolute horrific tragedy to the OC Courts [Redacted by Ed.] didn't listen to the evidence or even let my attorney present video evidence, that the other side was lying. Instead he made a detrimental decision that took almost THREE years and hundreds of thousands of dollars and the loss of my child who ended up in the CPS system due to EXACTLY what my attorney and I told this inept, ignorant "judge", two WEEKS after my case closed, he called me a liar and turned my child over to convicted Herrion Addicts who were arrested and charged with child abuse. The exact child I tried to protect and told this "judge" the truth to. By then, Flynn had removed ALL of my parental contact, labeling me a liar, not safe with my child, and ordered "supervised visitation" with ZERO proof, listening ONLY to the child abusers. I had the Court reporter even contacted me and I know my case is well KNOWN for the screw up Flynn caused and my child is forever hurt, needs extensive counseling and more. Flynn as presented with several arrests of the other parent and drug use during our last court date. But he dismissed it, stating that my attorney didn't "file within the 10 day" period , HE WAS WROng..Two weeks later my child was taken away by CPS and Flynns Biased opinion of me was on record and I have fou8ght since to regain custody of my son.. On April 1, 2022, Pope Francis apologized for the role of … Aboriginal boarding school system. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has recently urged ...to "take responsibility" for its role in indigenous residential schools,Overall it is estimated many thousands of native children were systematically separated from their family, and systematically robbed and misused to death .

Similar concerns took place here: Large percent of the Restrain orders issued by John L. Flynn III (L53, Lamoreaux Justice Center) are nuisance, unnecessary and fail to protect our citizen and minor children's fundamental interests. Those restrain orders promote Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) and badly hurt family's marriage foundation and family values from beginning, therefore violating Constitutional Law, human rights and fundamental principles of being a civilized human!

Flynn’s abuse examples include a case at FL53 in which he knowingly failed/refused to incorporate authorized professional investigation outcome and reports by Orange county’s already established legal authorities and systems! This includes those professional investigation outcome and reports made timely available to him at the hearings and available in his system, including:
1. Report by CMPD (OCA 17002264, March 9, 2017); 2. CLOSED-UNFOUNDED conclusion by a professional on-site interviewing at CAST of Orange on March 8, 2017; 3. The investigations jointly by CMPD, SSA-CFS and Investigator of Family-Law Court at Lamoreaux Justice Center (March-April 2017).

At Orange county California, there is an example case that a well-educated professor and scholar who has no physical violation or “Domestic Valence”, but has been ordered a 5-year restraining order (maximum) with no visitation or even communication with his minor child, simply due to he disagreed with severe Child Alienation, and his peaceful effort as a father in protecting child’s long-term interest and finance. This order made by John Flynn III even prohibits all child visits, contacts and regular telecommunications between father and his minor daughter for 5 years! This is very disturbing and a fundamental violation against basic human rights! This is completely deviating from the constitutional law, justice of this nation, deviating from our civilization, society principle and our family value!

Orange County has already had one of the highest divorce rates in whole nation. About 72 percent of marriages here end in divorce, as compared with the national average of about 50 percent. Here, the divorce rate is 44% higher than the "normal" of national average (astonishing)!! Flynn has used many multiple-year, unjustified and unnecessary restrain orders (RO)/ no-visitation orders as his weapon to hurt the minor children (including mine) at Orange county, California, separating and isolating children in a very long and difficult period (from one of parents). This is against and violate fundamental human right and against human nature! His wrongful ROs terribly hurt child’s mental health, deteriorating child’s childhood happiness and healthy growth, as well as significantly fading the childhood educational resources and benefits which would otherwise be available and helpful to our minor children!

I request along with many victims: Investigate and remove John Flynn III, (as well as clean up his negative influence/heritage) from Lamoreaux Justice Center, as he is racial biased and knowingly abused his legal power to hurt minority children and their family.

"As a dad, I can't imagine what it would feel like to have my kids taken away from me," Mr Trudeau told reporters. "And as prime minister, I am appalled by the shameful policy that stole indigenous children from their communities."

Heard the rumors. As long as its not a other Flynn appointed. The county should have stopped with his father and grandfather who were very different quality judges and clearly this one had problems. This one left a mess where ever he was put and from what I hear the biggest mess in Lamoreaux. We threw off the British rule centuries ago for good reason, some of the royalty were born incompetent and same for the Flynn line. About time to put judges in place that earn it versus happen to be born into a family of judges to clean up the messes for good. Good luck to Nelson.

I have 100% confidence that this judge is one of the fairest judge one can hope to have reside over one’s case. I understand fairness can mean different things to different people who share similar view like trump-clown. Don’t worry, there is one supreme judge there is which is GOD himself. One’s doings will ultimately be judged by God no matter what BS morons in this world can twist and alter the truth with “alternate facts” aka lies. This judge truly cares about the best interests of the children and the truth. Shame on those pathetic “parents” who use children as devices for their own selfish purposes and malice. This Judge ignored the rampant excessive litigation of an abusive controlling ex spouse and allowed the child to be placed in the other parents home that actually missed the warning suicidal signs of our other child who actually did commit suicide. I see there's people here who received favorable rulings and that shows that this Judge has lost his objectivity in cases. He never once asked me to speak in defense of false allegations, never asked for investigation and I have verifiable evidence and witnesses to the contrary of the allegations and exaggerated claims. In fact my ex physically abused me! Short sighted and downright ignored my case. I suggest this judge retire, or at least read up on; Psychological Aspects of Displacement, Attachments Based Parental Alienation, Malicious Parent Syndrome and Parental Alienation. No justice here between one loving parent and child. NONE!!!

HE recently retired BUT HE came back. His name is not on the wall or on the 7TH Floor Courtroom Door. My trial date was reset but I didn't realize they took away my in-person court date that was approved several months ago. Until I just went into the court to see if his name was still there. He is on-line only. (They are hiding him in my opinion.)

John Flynn is a horrible Judge. He lets lawyers waste the money and time of their clients and the courts.. He wanted to grant a "bifurcation of Status" in 2017 on a case that was already filed as an "uncontested dissolution" in 2014! He granted ex wifes attorney an ex parte emergency protective order over ice hockey season tickets! The three full years he over saw my case NOTHING WAS ACCOMPLISHED BESIDES $278,000 OF fees for all the POINTLESS LITAGATION! I had to pay a private judge to decide the case in 2018 yet judge Flynn is still the labeled Judge assigned to my case. The private judge was able to accomplish more in 4 hearing than Flynn accomplished in the over 60 hearings I was subjected to because of him. Its a sad day when the judge this bad destroys public confidence in the justice system!

Judge Flynn is a lazy judge that allows attorney to file multiple continuances dragging out cases for years and not make a fair decision. He allows the attorneys to run the show and hands out retraining orders and guardian ad litems like they're candy. Due to his decisions in my divorce case I lost custody of my kids and have to keep dealing with child support every time I get a job. He doesn't care about Fathers rights or even cares about looking about the big picture, nor does he look at the stacks of pages on my divorce case. I've been dealing with this Judge for over 3 years in my divorce case and still going. Very incompetent judge. And now he issued a restraining order against me preventing me from seeing or talking to my kids at all for Christmas, New Years, and going forward. His decisions have destroyed mine and my kids lives because he chooses not to review court documents and delay the process while I suffer. [Redacted by Ed.]

There Are Two Immediate Ways to Request to Disqualify a Judge:

1. Peremptory Challenge (See Code of Civil Procedure § 170.6)
• In a family law case, you may automatically disqualify ONE judge without proving prejudice or bias.
a. If you have a temporary judge (commissioner or judge pro tem), you can refuse to sign a stipulation for the temporary judge at your courtroom.
• If your peremptory challenge is granted, a new judge will be assigned.
• If your peremptory challenge is denied, the judge will remain on your case.
• To raise a challenge, file an Affidavit of Prejudice Peremptory Challenge to Judicial Officer (form LACIV 015). A copy is available at http://www.lasuperiorcourt.org/forms/pdf/LACIV015.pdf. If you choose to draft your own affidavit, it must include specific language listed in the code cited above.
• If your judge is known at least 10 days before the hearing date, you must make your motion at least 5 days before that date. To avoid missing the deadline, file your motion as soon as your trial judge is assigned.
• If you are assigned a different judge for trial, make a motion as soon as the new judge is assigned.
• Have a copy of the affidavit served on the other party no later than 5 days after making the motion.

2. Challenge for Cause (See Code of Civil Procedure § 170.1- § 170.5)
• A judge may also be challenged for cause under CCP §170.1.
• This type of motion is less likely to be granted because specific grounds and proof are required, i.e., conflict of interest, bias, financial interest, personal knowledge of facts, and relationship to a party or attorney.
• If your challenge is denied, the judge will will remain on your case.
• To raise a challenge, file a written declaration, using pleading paper, that sets forth the grounds for disqualification.
a. A copy of pleading paper (form MC-030/031) is available at http://www.courts.ca.gov/forms.htm.
• The challenge must be raised with the clerk at your assigned department "at the earliest practicable opportunity" after discovering grounds for disqualification, or else it is waived. Have a copy served on the other party/attorney, and a copy personally served on the judge or clerk.

Appeal Process (See California Rules of Court § 8.800-8.843 and 8.880-8.891)
• If a judge has made an order in your case that you believe was made in error, and that the error was harmful, you may request an appeal with the appellate division of the superior court.
• An appeal is NOT a new trial. The appellate division will review the record of what happened at court to see if certain kinds of legal errors were made. If legal errors were made, the orders could potentially be overturned.

I had Judge Flynn over see my custody case. I am a women. In my experience he did not seem sexist, again only my personal experience. Yes, the date kept getting pushed out, could have been due to the other party failure to appear for the virtual hearing or could have been due to the COVID circumstances. Nevertheless, I feel Judge Flynn was a kind, patient and fair judge. He heard me out and did what was in the best interest of the child with the evidence that I presented him. This is my personal opinion on my specific case.

I sat in Judge Flynn’s courtroom today and seen one particular case that’s bothering me. His facial expressions and hatred towards this Woman in front of him was obvious to all. The Respondent didn’t show, (until 3 hours later)his Attorney was a “no show”.. I cannot even put in writing the bias, contempt, unfair court I seen today towards this woman . Judge Flynn would not let her Attorney speak, admitted he was “aware” of the abuse going on in the household, shut her attorney down and acted as an “Attorney” on the bench for this TWEEKER looking guy that finally showed up..I guess the Respondent never filed a response, which should be an indication he agrees with her court filing.. Flynn acted as this guys “Attorney” advising him that her Attorney (in HIS understanding of the law), didn’t file her case in 10 days after the “Final statement of Decision”, which her attorney pointed out very obviously Flynn was wrong..He shut she and her attorney up and ruled in favor of a respondent who failed to respond to the complaint, showed up 3 hours late, his Attorney didn’t show.. While even admitting on his bench, he knew the Respondents “witnesses” lied. I felt horrible watching this woman and the injustice of his court. I guess there was evidence of child abuse and worse and that judge chose to ignore the safety of her child, cited a bogus law timeline to file and completely disregarded her attorney or would even listen to them. I have been practicing for some twenty years and my time in his court is by far my worst experience. Have had to reschedule several times because he simply does not show up and his staff is powerless. When he does show up, he tries to read the record for the first time and never looks up while you and your client just stand there. Clueless or simply does not care anymore when he does show up. I had one simple matter that he turned into a time consuming fiasco. I had to spend some thirty hours trying to undue his ruling. Another more complex ruling seemed straight from a clerk, because he could not explain his tentative ruling. He then argued against it. When he does show up, be prepared to sit around and wait in his court and be prepared for his uncalled for unpleasantness because he appears to be irritated at having to show up. The whole experience has been bizarre.

he mumbles, can be very forgetful, and he gets upset when I tried to help him correct a mistake. quick to blame someone else. he wants everyone to make him look good. he has taken a lot of sick days over the last few years and still seems burned out. not good for the litigants or staff.

The case turned on this obviously flawed view of a register of payments prepared at request of counsel prior to deposition but purported to be a record of payments over a two year period preceding the deposition.

Flynn does not appear to care about cases cited or applicable code section. He can be influenced by attorneys he knows better rather than the facts of the case. He interrupted me in front of my client and started almost shouting to stop me from getting my points on the record then claimed I was interrupting him as his reason for raising his voice. Not the most stable judge I have dealt with.

Don't plan on getting to trial any time soon. He will not do a trial unless you have spent every dollar your client has to their name, then maybe, just maybe, you will be awarded a trial date. He continued one of my cases for over 2 years, and eventually we did settle - we had no choice, since no one had any money left. Where he fails to understand the law he makes it up to his own liking to the benefit of the attorneys he likes and detriment of those he doesn't. Then, he dares the attorneys he didn't like to appeal him.

So allegedly a "female" litigant who has had him as a judge for several years when he only being in family court for the last few years, because was in criminal court before that, and who has apparently sat full time in his courtroom to watch several other trials and has no other job other than to be in his courtroom and post on here that everyone else is wrong dating back over a decade.

I felt compelled to leave a short comment, as I don't believe the majority of these comments are a fair assessment and as a female litigant, they are frightening and stressful to read. I have been under Flynn for years, and recently had another trial with him. I am blessed that Flynn saw the truth and issued further protection for myself and my child. I personally do not believe Flynn has an issue with women. He just wants the facts and the truth, and he does not have time for dramatics, and that goes for all judges. I have witnessed many cases under his review, and in my opinion, he had the child's best interest in all of them. I am grateful to have Judge Flynn assigned to my case.

I have never witnessed a more condescending, biased, irresponsible, and irreverent judge. He has a reputation of punishing women. He’s known as a father’s rights judge. He has no understanding or knowledge about abuse. He released a sexual predator after one year. He gives custody to addicts and abusers when he has evidence of abuse. He rails against women. He does not take children’s welfare into consideration. He does not let women speak freely in court. He wastes everyone’s time with delays. He is unethical, old, and a chauvinist. I’ve never seen anything like what I saw in that court room a few days ago. In court to support a friend. I almost don’t even have words.This judge acts like he just wants to annihilate any female with kids that walks in to his court room. Let her ex talk as long as we wanted lying about his continued drug and other stuff. Flynn did everything to keep my friend from being able to respond. The way Flynn spoke is not how any judge should act. shut her down, cut her off, spoke over her, and yelled at her. The day we went to court, my friend case was the last one heard so we had to sit through all the other cases and that’s where I heard him speaking to the respondent in a case and talking about his past child molestation charges and then he gave the child molester visitation rights with no supervision. I still, just thinking about, I can’t wrap my head around that and I don’t know how by any law of any kind, that that is okay for him to do. What about these kids?? What is happening to the kids?? What is he doing? And how can he get away with this? He is ruining lives! Get a different judge assigned if you can.

This judge needs to be dethroned. He is notorious for enabling abusers in domestic violence and sexual assault cases. He released a man who abused his own toddler and other children in a daycare. A quick Google search will provide more details of the case. A cursory conversation with other lawyers revealed that he dismissed multiple DV cases because he only saw one bruise or none at all. He does not understand that domestic violence goes beyond physical assault. He is harsh and unreasonable and a very poor judge of character. Whoever wrote that he is taken up with performances is right on the money. He allows men to rail and rant and shuts women up. He punishes women who seek protection by taking away their children from them. He must be removed.

I was in Judge Flynn's courtroom today to support a family member. I was able to witness a couple of cases before my family member's case was called. This man has an overt bias against women. He was demeaning, dismissive and drew conclusions that were completely baseless. In my opinion, he really has no business preciding over family court.

He cancelled our first hearing in January of this year and had to continue it to June of this year and then he cancelled our court session in the morning Of the week of June 18th. I am paying for 3 hours of my attorney's time as he was not then back in session until after 1:30. He appears to be VERY biased against women. He doesn't seem to care how his actions negatively affect others.

I had heard that Judge Flynn III had gone through a terrible divorce and was tough on women. This seems to be general information that everyone accepts that knows the way he runs his court. As a layperson I was told this by numerous people when I had told them he was the judge in my case. I don't know if he is aware of his behavior. Of course he might not really care. He takes cases out of order, takes ridiculously long 15 minute breaks (like an hour) and it was apparent to me sitting in his court that he is clearly nicer to men than to women. I'm just amazed he's allowed to run a court room like he does. When my turn came he was demeaning and downright punitive to me without any cause other than what he read had been alleged against me. Neither my lawyer nor I had a chance to talk. I had gone into his court with an open mind and came out feeling like I had been hit by a train and unfortunately survived.

The one court date he was actually present he didn't want to hear the trial and had us reschedule for 2 months later. He has since cancelled on us twice. So a case that has been ready since November is now not being heard until July....if he keeps the date. His delays are costing us a ton of money and headaches. We just want to be heard and move on with our lives. Seems crazy HE keeps cancelling on us and pushing us back 3 months each time. Not loving him at this point. If we ever get heard it will interesting to see how he rules. Family court is horrible!

Sat in the courtroom today for most of the day in room C-48. Heard about 10 cases. I admire his patience when hearing what the defendant (or plantiff) has to say. In some cases I felt he was almost too nice. One lady had a 90-day suspension on her CA state bar license and he was making sure she wasn't violating this and acting as a defendant and not an attorney while she was defending a small claims suit against herself. Then she broke down and needed two more weeks to prepare because of stress and "mental illness." He granted it! I feel sorry for any plantiff that has to come back again just to have their case heard.
