She ruled on a demurrer I prepared as part of a pro se wrongful foreclosure case that our client (subsequent purchaser) got dragged into. We used her own arguments and cases from her prior rulings sustaining the other defendants’ demurrers, but she went rogue and denied our demurrer with no written explanation. The only explanation we got, orally, was “there are enough facts here” (I’m paraphrasing). She was also rude to us and the attorneys who appeared before us in another matter. Would not recommend.

Dear reader,

If you get this judge and you are a male you need to request a judicial change. It has been my experience that this judge is bias, shows it quite evidentially and lacks disinterest. Nor does she have the intellectual capacity to adjudicate complex law. She has been paradoxically assigned a duty to preside over these cases yet she's ill-equipped.

If you are a defendant, stay at least 300 yards away from this crazy former associate at Cotchett, Pitre, & Illston. She thinks that she is "brilliant," and makes up incredible and illusory "evidence" to support her beliefs. Read Asahi Kasei Pharma v. Actelion as Exhibit One of her crazy ideas. The only thing crazier is Judge Bruiniers upholding her decision for the moment -- hopefully, a degree of sanity will be restored by the Supreme Court.

As a long ago past member of the Plaintiff’s Bar some over reach and think she sometimes leans towards Defendants in order to appear fair minded. However, this attorney has only seen her remain neutral. She doesn’t suffer fools, or attorneys who waste the Court's time with endless motions, gladly.

A higher Court, once choose only those bits and pieces of her words, from a transcript, to bolster its opinion. Ironically, the underlying message of that opinion has long been this Judge's quiet distain. Again it had to do with waste, here wasting time.

She's never appeared to be anything but neutral and without agenda. She expects litigants/attorneys to be prepared, polite to her staff, and live or die on the authenticated and substantiated merits of their cases.

She will, at times, enter into a situation in order to insure, to the best of her ability, that her courtroom, meters out even handed rulings. She doesn’t bend. She always does her homework.

I've found Judge Weiner to be a fair jurist. She doesn’t like the court's time to be wasted.
She is patient with a variety of idiosyncratic attorneys, both plaintiff's and defendant's. Remember, she has likely known, either as an attorney or presided over as a judge, most attorneys in her county with six digit bar numbers who were admitted only when she became a judge in the middle of the 100,000 -199,999 allotted numbers. She is still as young as or younger than many lawyers in that county. She is most knowledgeable and doesn’t take sides. Administering the law well in San Mateo County is her only agenda. If you go for an ex parte order, you'll rarely see her in person. The end result may appear unusual or odd (such as a backhanded granting of an application, which never seems to be her manner as she's very direct in person to counsel). Ask whoever gave you her decision or order, as politely as possible, "Did the judge type this order herself, or did she draft an order which someone else processed?"
