Judge Johnson might be a good man to those that are only his colleagues or having anything to with the prosecution. At first blush of Judge Johnson judgment in his courtroom is one sided at all times. He do not wanna hear any applications from the defense unless it favors the prosecution. This great man is into seperating families for the maximum term he can under the law and if he bought his personal feelings with him to work on the day of judgment as in sentencing or any thing in that nature he exceed his authority in the courtroom. I witness this judge let a police officer free on bond after he didn't comply with the pretrail probation services and within the same day remand a regular defendant at a probation admendment hearing where the government wanted nothing more than house arrest. If you're' not a police officer or any type of government official you have no wins in this Honorable Judge court.

Just read the comments here: not a legal scholar, a former cop, biased for the government - ring a bell? First, a few things about Johnson: this is a black guy. Not just any black dude: he is one of those brothers who thinks sucking up to the man is the way to get ahead in life. That explains why he became a cop; that explains why he is pro-government; that explains why he ignores a criminal defendant lying on the courtroom floor who could be dying. Johnson did not become an Uncle Tom overnight. I remember him when he used to be the head of the Civilian Complaint Review Board back in the early 70s. He only had one duty back then: get bad cops off the hook. This was during a period when the NYPD was really crazy in terms of corruption, brutality, false arrests, etc. Imagine this: a black guy covering up police misconduct, especially against people of his own race! And this Oreo became a federal judge! Our justice system and system in general is A JOKE!

Judge Johnson is a very UNFAIR judge and need to be removed off the bench as a Judge. First off never in my life have I seen a Judge proceeded with another federal case while a person stood before him for a case fainted. He refused to wait for the paramedics while this person layed their on the floor and just proceeded with the next case. Not to mention there was only two cases that day for him to hear that day and the paramedics didnt take long to arrive.Everyone in the court room except the prosecutor could not believe a person could be that evil. He did not listen to anything the other side had to say other than listen to what the government presented against that person. Its sad what happen to the justice system? What was most disappointing was there was children in the court room who seen how Judge Johnson just proceeded with another case while someone was layed out on the floor unconscious. I could not believe a Judge could be so evil and dont care.God is the true Judge and on Judgement day he will be Judge.

This judge is not interested in hearing from the defense. He believes that he does not need to hear from the defense, and he is impatient and appears annoyed by any semblance of a defense argument. He is also rude and imperious. He believes that he is a great man, and that all who appear before him should understand his greatness.

Yes, he is generally polite, pleasant and unpretentious, and he lets you try your case -- characteristics that count for a lot. On the other hand, he is very much pro-government, his opinions lack depth and he pretty much sticks with the guidelines, even when they are extravagantly unfair. He appears bored by oral argument, and disinterested in digging into complicated issues.

I served as a juror on a case he presided over. It was an honor being a juror on that case. Judge Johnson is a wonderful justice.

Everyone loves Judge Johnson, except perhaps some of the folks for whom he has arranged long-term care in Federal penitentiaries. He is courteous, down-to-Earth, unpretentious and runs his courtroom expeditiously and with an even-hand and even temperament. He does not profess to be a legal scholar. But he is an excellent judge.

Fair, bright, reasonable. Has a great work ethic and will get opinions out in a timely fashion. Very accommodating to lawyers and will always try to do the right thing. His time spent as a cop has served him well. One could do far worse on the Eastern District bench.

Best Judge on the bench. Always gives the defendant a fair trial. He is very respectful to all court personnel. He treats his law clerks, secretary and case managers as family. Everybody in the Eastern District of New York loves him.

He caused a defendant to do several years in prison for a firearm that did not exist; due to incorrect reading of statutes, personal bias, and collusion with prosecution. Intentionally disregards ALL motions from defendants, unless compelled to respond by Judge Korman, etc. unattentive on bench during deliberations.

Fair judge who happens to be a former NYPD cop. He knows the score in crimnal cases and isn't looking to hammer your client on a plea. I don't know how he is at trial, but he seems fairly agreeable and fair overall.
