He has a huge ego, and thinks that he is smarter than he is. He is intemperate, which emanates from his palpable insecurity. If he could overcome those personal issues, he could be a fine judge.

Judge Peck is the epitome of a God-Complex federal court judge. He is rude, condescending, curt and only cares about getting cases off his docket rather than doing what is just. He is disgustingly rude to the attorneys who appear before him and equally as rude to the clients who appear with their counsel. He has no problem condescending an attorney in front of his or her client. The sadest part is he has this diety complex even though he is a magistrate who CAN be removed from the bench if his inappropriate behavior is brought to the right person's attention. He is on the bench to be just and not to bully people into settling cases with the threat of frivolous sanctions if they do not. That is contrary to his oath as a judge and contrary to his obligations to the public. He really should be ashamed of himself as he truly is the reason why people hate judges. While he does appear to be up on the law, his lack of decorum, professionalism and his utter egotism in his courtroom distract any observer from any actual knowlege of the law he may possess. He really needs to be remediated to small claims court where the damage he can cause is minimal.

Hes famous for being intolerant, unprepared, already has his opinion before walking into the courtroom, cozies up and easily led by the more powerful lawyers. Penalises those whose who cant afford to pay for e discovery ( the cliche ' you get what justice you can afford' comes to mind', and takes his frustrations with young, inexperienced attorneys out on their clients. Should never be a federal judge. be prepared, and act as if you are in a drive through at mcdonalds have your order ready which will be barked back at you. will do or say anything to get a case off the books, which is the only reason i believe he is involved in settlement discussions.

He obviously feels very inadequate about his position as a federal judge's helper. An embarrassment to the Southern District.

Whatever you do, DON'T DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU TO DO! He will contradict himself, and in the end sanction you for following his directives!

He is bias and full of himself. Only sites his own cases in his replies! Where is the brilliance in that?

This man should not be on the bench. He has no regard for the law. He is biased, he lies, he bullies attorneys, and he exercises decision-making power that he doesn't have as a magistrate.

I don't have anything good to say about him. He exhibits poor relational skills and runs his court room as if he is GOD.

Overall a good judge. Indecisive at times. Impatient at times.

This guy is like a caricature of a difficult judge. He is sadistic and malicious towards the lawyers who come before him. A very smart man (not as smart as he thinks he is, but still very intelligent), and seemed on-point with his rulings. For no apparent reason, he purposely insults and disrespects the lawyers who appear before him, and does so in front of both the jury and their clients. He isn't bias, but will be equally terrible to both sides. He is like the poster boy for arbitrary and capricious conduct.

Luckily, he's only a magistrate. DO NOT consent to him handling your case. If you have to appear in front of him, warn your client that the judge is an arrogant A-hole, have a thick skin, have your ducks in a row, be over prepared, and be EARLY.

To his credit, he is very respectful of the jury and the system itself. He is too aloof to be bias. He enjoys torturing attorneys, but it has nothing to do with the actual case. Also, oddly, when he's not unnecessarily demonstrating his authority, he's actually rather amiable.

It is truly unfair that teachers who come before him are punished not for their being guilty of the allegations but on how bad of a day Justice Peck's day is going, or how much he dislikes their attorney.

Worst! Uses bullying tacticts reminiscent of back yard children's games. Doesn't get his way, threatens to take your glove and bat and run away. Very intemperate. Has no respect for litigants. Forgets the law and reverts to personal biases and predetermined outcomes. Plays waiting games countered with unreasonable time frames all as part of the play. Try to outwit him? Very possible, easily accomplished but be prepared to pay the price in his abuse of power. Should not be in the esteemed seat of federal court. A diservice to justice, to people, to law.

I've read the previous comments made and am quite sure those were not made by an attorneys who appeared before Magistrate Judge Peck. Rather, they were most likely made by himself....

Humility is not his forte. That is his greatest weakness... after hearing him complement himself, you then realize that he is not as well-versed in the law as he claims. He is obnoxious and acts more like an angry New York State Supreme Court Judge....he should not be a Federal Judge!

Normally, moves cases along at blinding pace. He is graciously amenable to specific requests for more time to comply with, seemingly, fast-paced discovery schedules.

Almost completely unwilling to extend any discovery deadlines, so you definitley have to front-burner any case you have assigned to him. Is gruff but gives you your say. He does work very hard, wants to resolve discovery disputes quickly, fairly and correctly, and is concerned about and wants to understand the legal issues. If he gave a bit on deadlines he'd be one of the best.

Very smart jurist who frequently acts like a bully. Inflexible scheduling directives often make no sense. Promptness to a point of fault. This "Shot-Gun" jurist generally has been found to be fair and correct, but be aware the judge will put your feet to the fire for no good reason, and he will shift costs without regard to the equities or law solely to get things done quickly.

He seems thorough and intelligent. Interested in case and not afraid to do the work to learn the applicable standard to apply to resolve case. No nonsense schedule wants to move cases along and not get sidetracked. I'll report back once the case is resolved.

His intelligence is compromised by his exaltation of form and deadlines over common sense case management. While he tends to be one of those judges who views all attorneys as bad little boys and girls, he is not a yeller and generally affords you the opportunity to be heard.
