In response to comment # 35175, Judge Caproni did not tip the scales to convict; she removed the scales. The evidence to support this is openly available in the record.
Unfortunately, the Second Circuit is a pay-per-review-court. Indigents need not apply.
Under the law, Judge Caproni should be removed from the bench. [Redacted by Ed.] She and repeatedly and knowingly ignored precedent and the law to convict an innocent defendant.

Avoid. Correctly calculated that she would be a disaster the minute her name was on the case. [Redacted by Ed.] This wasteland of a district court reassigned case to her and she "gave it" to a BigLaw magistrate to sit on it for months then dismiss it despite both parties NOT consenting to the magistrate. [Redacted by Ed.] Avoid her at all costs [Redacted]

I don't think the last comment is appropriate. Yes, she's leans pro government but tipping the scales to convict? I don't think so. Sounds like a disgruntled family member.

Judge Caproni is very independent. The Constitution, the law, binding precedent, nor her oath of office will stand in her way when she makes up her mind [Redacted by Ed.].

I've been practicing over 30 years, civil and criminal. She is easily one of the top five pieces of [redacted by ed.] that has ever been on the bench. 'nuff said.

Comments:
It appears as she working for the government most of her career has biased her severely. She is entirely one-sided in claims for attorney fees against a government entity, and has been rather nasty to the plaintiff bar seeking fees. Her use of the caselaw on the issue seems to interpret every element to diminish a fee award, to discourage the attorneys from taking cases representing low-income clients. She drew assumptions about claims there were not based on fact or the experience of any litigator in the field -- for example assuming drafting of a unique document takes about a third of the actual time it took.

The role of prosecutor never left her blood. A perfect example of the broken justice system. Gave fines and extra probation to my client that nobody asked for. Dont bother negotiating pleas, she will re write it. Walked into the courtroom with her mind made up before listening. Her mind made assumptions and jumped to conclusions without any proof or reason. Ive never seen anything like this. Its a shame judges like this are running our justice system.

Comments:
Incredibly biased towards the prosecution. Does not belong on the bench. I have tried cases in 25+ districts and Judge Caproni is the most biased judge I have ever seen. She is smart, but she utilizes that intelligence with one focus: putting defendants in prison.

Rare find. Like a laser, focuses only on the issues and resolves cases in an academic, equitable fashion. Does not take sides.

Just had a jury trial before Judge Caproni and thought she was excellent. Handled it like a veteran. Great demeanor, even handed and knowledgeable.
