Seems to be quite thorough. Recently reviewed her recommendations to a district judge that were far more extensive than what I have seen from other magistrates.

Biased for government attorney and against smaller firms. Too smart to be willing learn what she doesn’t know.

Oliver is clearly an intelligent magistrate but has little real world or practical trial experience. She makes extreme rulings and then reverses them. She leans toward the government’s side, so sole-practitioners BEWARE. She will needlessly allow defense to overwork you & allow the government to break the rules without punishment. Oliver is flat out afraid to hold government attorneys’ feet to the fire (probably because she wants to keep getting glowing reviews from them & to make District Judge ). She is easily manipulated by government attorneys.

The best judge in the entire Central District. Applies the law to the facts the way it should be. Kind of like an umpire who calls the strike zone correctly. She has unbelievable common sense and realistic legal smarts. Has no ego. Just wants to get things done right.

Simply the best Judge I've ever had. Got a ruling I didn't like from her, but it was understandable and I didn't feel like she didn't get the issues. She is scrupulously fair and patient, but unlike other Judges with those traits she is not afraid to bring down the hammer when necessary. Incredibly well prepared, including on little notice. Hopefully will be appointed to the district court. Just a credit to the federal bench and public servants in general.

A very good judge. She is extremely mathematical. Not swayed by emotion. Sticks to the law and rules that way. Very refreshing. Think of Spock if he were a judge. She doesn't fall for opposing counsel's emotional pleas. If you have the law on your side, you'll win. The way it should be.
