Comments:
None of these comments are surprising. I only met him once in a causal setting. Insufferable arrogance really was the most memorable thing I can recall. Something about the federal judiciary that allows the most obnoxious personalities to bloom unfettered by the restraints most lawyers and decent people exercise. In fairness though I have not appeared before him and never would.

This judge has acquired wealth unexplained by his official salary. Drug proceeds remain unaccounted for in cases he has "oversaw". As a few of his select cohorts also live beyond their official means.

can anyone tell me were seperation of church and state is found in the constitution ? because i cant find it anywhere i know the first amendment says freedom of religion . i know about the letter from danbury baptist to jefferson commenting on a wall of separation. i cant find it anywhere else.if its not there then this judge should be impeached and so should all like him

This judge from his days on the state
bench has shown the most extreme bias toward any defendant unfortunate to come within his grasp.

Typical example of "the Peter Principle." Should be removed from the bench. Undeniably favors the prosecution. "Honorable" does not apply to this person.

Comments:
Not a fair judge. Makes decisions based on his political inclinations and not the law. Takes black letter law and reinterprets it. Biased towards corporations and employers over individual citizens. Applies the rules to some parties but not to others that he favors. This judge is a perfect example of why the average citizens in this country cannot get justice from the courts. This man has no business being a judge.

Favors the government. Not a fair judge. Known as the hanging judge. Not a nice person. Is not concerned about listening to defendants; only cares what government has to say. Any objection made by the government is sustained and any objection made by the defendant is overruled. He doesn't listen or pay attention to the trial. It is not fair that this so-called free country is being run by unjust, heartless people like Judge Paul.

Comments:
Very principled, keeps up with current caselaw; runs a very tight and controlled courtroom; anticipates and prepares for evidentiary issues; excellent trial judge. Not liked by showy criminal defense and civil plaintiff lawyers who like to try and run the courtroom. And that's a good thing.

Comments:
This judge hardly listened to anyone when they were speaking. He was rude and interrupted speakers to make unecessary know-it-all commentary. He was most obviously biased in favor of the prosecution, even to the untrained eye. The prosecution seemed to be aware of this as they were relaxed and had their things packed before he had even announced his decisions.

He ignores obvious fallacies and outright lies within both the prosecution's arguments and documents filed.

I wouldn't wish him upon any defendent, much less a truly innocent one.

Comments:
I witnessed my first federal case and I observed complete bias from this judge in favor of the government despite the overwhelming lack of evidence against the defendant. He was more concerned about leaving at 5 o'clock (when he wasn't napping) than in hearing the evidence presented. My experience has changed my entire outlook on the Federal court system from a positive to a negative.

Mellowed a little since he went senior, but still leans more than a little in favor of the government, business, employers -- wealth and power generally.

I dont like the rocket-docket system and he holds that over your and your client's heads to extract a plea and then proceeds to impose the harshest possible punishment. One very tough nut.
