I realize Judge Barbier has a huge responsibly handling the BP Oil Spill lawsuit. Although with his stature he knows what is all entailed. The Bp Oil spill has been in The court room way too long. BP OIl Spill is getting off way to easy. Considering all the damage they did!!!!! Since 60 minutes was aired, Our prayer is, Judge Barbier makes BP Oil Spill pay now and put this all to rest. This is absurd how long The small Business and employees claims have not been paid. Could Judge Barbier go that long without being PAID?????
Make BP Oil Spill stick to what they agreed on and stop dancing around in the court room!!!!

Please put a deadline back on BP, dealing with the medical lawsuits from the people who opted out and then filed lawsuits against them. Give them a deadline to settle; quit putting it off and giving BP time to keep their money and make us look like we are dumb.

Judge Barbier cares about reaching a fair and practical result. His deep experience as a plaintiff's lawyer might incline him to be biased in that direction, but he is fair-minded and reasonable. He's also courteous and understanding of the travails that lawyers have to endure.

Outstanding judge. First class in all respects. Intelligent. Hardworking. Practical. Accomodating in terms of scheduling. Even-handed and fair. What all judges should be.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: 10036
Rating:6.0
Comments:
Judge Barbier is very plaintiff-oriented and considered by the bar to be a liberal judge. In recent years, he has tended toward bullying of both lawyers and their clients in order to obtain the results he wants, which is usually a large settlement in favor of a plaintiff. Although he is intelligent, his opinions and rulings are results-oriented, and do not always follow the law. He is a master of manipulation. Many in the defense bar believe they cannot get a "fair shake" in his courtroom.

Judge Barbier should be sanctioned for having concealed that he was the President of the New Orleans Trial Lawyers Bar Association, presiding on pro se litigant Thomas Delor.

Comments:
Judge Barbier is not fit to preside over litigation by a pro se litigant as he is the President of the New Orleans Trial Lawyers Association.
