Should NEVER in life have been appointed to the bench, where it concerns children or family law. The man is corrupt. Dismisses evidence or refuses to consider it, even when it's documentation from professionals, such as doctors, school and other officials. Should be disbarred ASAP!

Rating is 0 but that wasn't an option. Guess I gotta put 2 to have an "even" number to be accepted into the comments. This judge ruined my son's and my life (he was 5 then)! Now my son chooses to live with his dad's parents. He is stuck with a drug addict of a father who's in and out of jail and in and out of his parents house (constantly exposing my son to his drug addicted behavior). My son is 16 going on 17 and choosing to accept (just like mr. Roman) his drug addict of a father. I could've given my son a much better life. Now, we're all struggling, thanks to the bias decisions this judge made. The abuse I confessed to Mr. Roman wasn't enough. Documents weren't enough! My heartfelt and presumably unstructured reactions/ responses meant more than "the child best interest." I was lectured in open court for saying "my son". Understandable, i guess, but the bias showed very clearly after that comment. I had to borrow $10k just to get a lawyer to talk more "court friendly". Because of this man... I didn't regain full custody until MY SON was physically abused ENOUGH for a health care professional to call CPS! Almost 2 years later! Our bond and structure, forever damaged, because of this man! Not to mention the legal action that has been charged and dropped against me. I'm looking forward to the day this man is disbarred!
The system is corrupt, a judge like this is a big reason why!

This judge is an emotionally disturbed hypocrite. He is bitter and does not comply with the law. He often refers himself as 'the one in charge.' If you dusagree, he holds you in contempt as a vexasious litigant. If you are Catholic and a female who is willing to meet him in secret, you will get your requests in court. His wife is a mental health therapist, and you can expect him to consider any person he does not like as someone who needs mental health treatment.

As a judge, you would assume that he should have been the pinnacle of judicial procedure and professionalism. This was not the case. The whole entire proceedings were botched. First and foremost, I believe that Judge Roman should have excused himself from our case, due to the fact that we believed that he had previously dealt with my husband and I several years back on other criminal court matters from another county. Then, to top it all off, Judge Roman filed a restraining order against me, the petitioner, instead of the person who was supposed to be restrained, and then botched the spousal/child support orders, costing me thousands of dollars in additional legal fees to straighten the matter out.

Judge Roman does no preparation; instead, he chooses his favorite attorney and just does what they say he should do. He does not read the material, does not think, does not question and is incredibly arrogant. He treats all parties in a demeaning way and does not consider what is best for the child. When he first came to the bench in family court, he was a breath of fresh air. He seemed to be attentive, to be willing to understand the issues, and to make the best decisions he could. I represented both men and women in his court, and he was pretty even-handed at the time. In the last year, his patience with family law issues ended. The last four or five times I have been in front of him, he has lectured someone about a child in the midst of one of his custody cases who recently attempted suicide. He struggles to suppress his frustration at the custody litigation process (even though it is the only one we have when parents are at odds with each other). He rolls his eyes at litigants involved in custody disputes, and his decisions now seem made at random and out of frustration. I personally like Judge Roman, but I think that his decision to move on to a new department next year is for the best.

This judge is a misogynist, and he's arrogant and pompous. I've raised my son for over seven years. His father rarely paid child support. We went back to court and he ordered full custody to the father, and now I can only see my son on paid supervised visits. The orders only address opposing counsel's arguments, and he included evidence that he said was not admissible. My son's father claims that I am bipolar and need to get back on medication. I've never once been diagnosed as bipolar, nor have I ever been on medication. There was no evidence to support it, yet in the order it states that I need to get back on medication? We've appealed and he's denied it, he says the "new evidence" could have been submitted in trial, but all the new evidence was post trial. I think that he expected a crystal ball in court that we could refer to.

My son is now saying that he wants to die. He's only in second grade and he's on the verge of being expelled at school. He went from the top of his class with no problems to being near the bottom of his class, and he continually cries out to his teacher and principal: "No one believes me, I hate my life, I just want to be with Mommy, why are you doing this to me." All of which has been shared with Judge Roman but he refuses to acknowledge the real issue: a child is suffering, crying out for help, and is making suicidal statements.

He's God in his courtroom and no one can challenge him. His background is environmental law, and that's what he did in the military. He is obviously unhappy with his current position and is implementing his personal issues on these cases. He needs to be stopped. The justice system is flawed because of people like him.

This judge is by far the worst that there is. He took my boy away from his mom for abuse and gave him to me full time, and ordered that she still gets paid support for a child she isn't supporting! He also refused to see evidence of spousal support paid to her, even though he had it right in front of his face and ordered me to pay it again! This man needs to be fired! We have to do something -- this is unfair and unbelievable! I need help -- this man is ruining my life! He has taken all my money and given it to a child abuser, and he is the one who deemed her an abuser! What can we do to make sure that he cannot ruin any more lives?

I've been appearing before this judge on and off for a few years. My experience in his courtroom dovetails with the negative experiences described by many of the posters here.

I am a father who has been there since the beginning. The mother is enormously unstable and has consistently used the system to upend, not just my life, but our child's life as well.

Recently, I appeared before Jaime Roman for a very serious matter. I really needed a decision quickly to enforce a previous visitation issue. Judge Roman doesn't appear to have read my brief, wherein I describe precisely the nature of the emergency. While the day's session was very light, with only three or four cases to hear, he did not see fit to speak to me or ask a single question. My motion was denied, and a castrated version of my case was kicked over to FCS. Now I don't know what I can do.

The other posters here are right on the money. If you are a father, and you are representing yourself, you will be spending your time digging yourself out of a hole in this court. Roman doesn't care, he just turns the wheels until you stop pestering him with all this "justice" stuff.

Had the opportunity to watch this man handle other cases before mine was heard. He seems to listen and do what is best for kids. I heard him admonish both moms and dads. I witnessed none of the complaints others discussed.

Attorney Dena Bez is monitoring this site for help in trying to keep me from my children. I have not seen them, or been allowed any contact with them since May 2010 after false domestic violence charges sent my ex-wife, Sarah Geiger, on a path of self-destruction. In the past month, Dena and Sarah have attempted to disqualify a highly-regarded therapist, a court-approved psychologist, my entire law firm, and even the Judge who know controls and owns the case (must to their dismay). I believe that lunar cycles, an unusually cold winter, and a request for my long-form birth certificate may be their next "best" agruments for the continued psychological abuse of my children. Donald Trump has nothing on these desparate women.

This man is menatlly ill and/or physically ill. He dispalys signs of being bi-polar and the people who post he is Super, are just as evil and deranged as he is. This man is bounced throughout the judical system daily, he also presides over criminal cases in downtown Sac, and that is a show in it self with him. He does not like to read at all. He can become very short tempered quickly. He does need a medical check-up, he may also be diabetic, or boarder line diabetic and not even know. You will need to report him to have anything done. posting here will only relieve frustrations, it will not get to the office, where they will pull him off the court bench. I urge you to follow the right steps and report him to the San Frnacisco agency. they are know as the watch dogs over the court systems. they cannot give legal advice, they will be happy to take your complaint.

This judge had no clue and let a documented abusive mother have visitation and then awarded custody then threatened to put the kids in foster care when the issue was continuously pushed. He is a real POS and all his cases should be reveiwed and reconcidered

According to an unnamed retired Family Court Judge from Sac County, the judges who are getting casework that has gone through Roman's Department are amazed at his inneptitude and sheer disregard for the law. This Judge told me that it may take as long as a year to clean up Jaime's mess. It looks like he's not making this career change, but has to move on because the problems he created by breaking CA law to help abused kids stay abused are catching up him. He's on the run! Judge Jaime R. Roman spends more time checking out people in military uniforms active duty status and trying to get contempt cases against mothers thrown out of court. He is verbose about his contempt for pro per as they are incompetent and a waste of his time. He refuses to hear cases of child abuse / neglect / contempt brought by fathers against mothers and appoints attorneys to weasel and bleed the cases, and even promoting lies and deception against pro per petitioners. I have heard a never ending list of court incompetence across the entire wing of the 2nd floor judges from the mouth of Judge Jaime R. Roman. While a Father was trying to fight for his child Judge Jaime R. Roman simply continued, tried to get the man to let the defense attorney run the show and completely ignored the man (and child's) juris prudis. But that is par for Sacramento since the DA supports WEAVE (women escaping a violent environment)and not PEAVE (people escaping a violent environment). You can tell he really misses his military officers commission and feels his court subjects are beneath him. The only thing I have witnessed this man get right is he is very sharp and listens very well...other than that Fathers and children BEWARE! Although I must also say that his conduct is right in line with the average performance of the entire building. No wonder it was declared a toxic waste dump. One lady said we need your support in the election because more jobs will be lost without that funding. I say they cast out the entire barrel of bad apples and get people in there that care about their jobs. One man traveled thousands of miles only to have his case denied without a word to the judge.

Fathers BEWARE. I have sat in court time and time again only to see this judge avoid making a decision against the mother. The judge indicated that he is reluctant to take a child from his mother but a father is different. He was willing to give the mother full custody if the father didn't appear for a court hearing even though the father has passed all his drug tests while mother didn't pass all her alcohol tests and she was involved in a child abuse incident. When father requested full custody he was denied. The judge keeps adding more and more hoops for the father to jump through via the mother's request dragging out the court case as if hoping that the father will mess up and he can give mother the advantage. He fits the description of all the negative comments. He talks a good talk but in the end he will decide against the father.

I found Judge Roman to be the fairest of them all, Judge Culhane running in 2nd place. All though I do not like all of his rulings, Judge Roman is very easy tempered, and most of all actually hears, and researchs evidence. After 9 years in family cort, I actually see light at the end of the tunnel.My case is very complex and peppered with so many false allegations, Judge Roman brought himself up to speed, on as many issues as he could. I hope all further motions in my case are held in Roman's Court! Definitely agree with comment 2248

Judge Jaime Roman is corrupt, unfair, bias and a Bigot. What we have is a judge who suffers with judicial poverty of the law due to his intellectual difficulties. As a judge he will always side with mediators, evaluators etc., due to the fact his wife is one. He has made comments the court room is his "Domain" and he will rule as he see's fit. I have this Judge twice now, of course not by choice. He doesn't respect the struggling parent that goes into the court room in pro-per and practically forces you to get one. Last hearing he adopted a motion that I wasn't even served, nor was I even provided a copy of the motion or additional time to respond. My daughter was ripped from my household and I now have supervised visitation every weekend to where I have to pay ($25 and hour for 2hours each day) to see my daughter and seek therapy of 10
sessions at $100 each. I'm not rich, nor does money grow on trees. This judge has torn my family apart and my little girl is now subjected to verbal and psychological accuse by her father and new step mom. I'm so upset with this judges decision and plan to report opposing counsel to the state bar for not providing me a copy nor serving me with the motion that this pompous judge ruled on!

This guy is an idiot. Looks at the women in the court room, defendant and her attorney with interest. Won't look my husband in the eye. At the end calls him a liar even though his ex was the liar and we had the proof and documentation. Overruled every objection our attorney made and almost none of her attorney's objections. No ruling yet but we expect the worst. This was a simple spousal support adjustment and the liars prevailed, even though we had documentation, because they were women.

Good fathers BEWARE of this judge. Nice at first but if you bring up any wrong doing on the mothers behalf he will tear into you like a rabid dog and strip you of rights. Takes advantage of pro per fathers that do not know their rights. Forced me to adopt the mediator's report when I said I did not want to and wanted to go to trail. Does not truely care about children only the illusion that the best place for them is with their mothers and that all fathers are worthless. Immediatly request a different judge if possible. I took the mother to court for neglecting my children and lost some time with my children as well as had my rights stripped. If you are a male and have to have him as a judge I strongly advise you to seek legal representation. Seriously!!!!!

It is ironic that this Judge has so many childhood issues with his miliarty father who move him from high school to high school to high school, and now uses his court to deny father's their God-given rights. Jaime is mad at Dad, but takes it out on the rest of us. Maybe he should spend more time talking to his MFT wife, because clearly, he NEEDS THERAPY!

Im a grandmother that raised my grandson for 4 years,because of abuse caused by his mother and her boyfriend.The mother let her boyfriend bite this child at age 2.Every judge in the past 4 yrs kept a no contact order for child and boyfriend(now husband).But judge Roman lifted this order and now this child lives with mother and now husband and he gave me court supervised visits one time a month.And ordered me to physcotherpy sessions.This child comes home to his father everyother weekend with bruises,scrapes,bruises on wrist,what lookes like burn marks.This judge says that im coaching this child to saying his mother is doing this to him,but the funny thing is how do you coach bruises,scratches and burn marks.He has taken my rights away from me,because he says i call cps too much,when even our mediator has called cps on mother and boyfriend.

I witnessed this judge,having proof of criminal activity of mother,discount and minimize this.Father requested more time with his son.Judge roman said come back in 30 days,for what so the criminal activity can continue.Mother did not have a drivers license,Father had pictures of mother driving with his child and judge still did nothing to mother.Maybe judge roman will have to anser for his actions if this child is hurt in a car accident.Maybe just maybe.

If you go into this Judge's Courtroom self-represented, you are done, especially if you "used to be" a Dad. He will help to destroy that parent-child relationship, especially if you are up against a custodial ex-wife with representation. Judge Roman is the worst judge ever. My parenting time with my child has been reduced time and time again with him. He even told me that its more important for a child to play sports than to do well in school.Even though I have proof that the mother is the one violating the court orders, harassing me, messing with my parening time, and also messing with my son Judge Roman refuses to look at it. He ordered therapy for me and my x. I told him I could not afford it because i am paying my x half of what I make and I am experiencing a financial hardship. I have other children in my care too. He got mad and reduced my time even more. He would not even let me speak and keep cutting me off. It was also more than obvious that he new my x's attorney very well and believed everything he said eben though it wasn't true. I thought the courts were set up to protect the well-being of the children but it has become more than obvious that they fall short in this and play favorites instead ignoring the best interest of those they were set to protect... the children.

Great judge. Does NOT always rule in favor of women. Better at reading briefs than listening to oral arguments. Will read everything and makes good character judgements. If you are honest, forthcoming and show you are willing to work with the other party, you should have no problems.

The worst judge ever seen is not fair in his judgements and does not take time to review cases appropriately. Out of control with his personal emotions and very unprofessional. I did not have him oversee any of my cases but happened to be with a friend in court for his case. I saw first hand how biased in his judgements. I watched him overturn another judges order of taking the childs passport away from the mother since she had already been proven to be a liar and a theif, and had kidnaped the child locally until she was forced by another judge to return the money personal items and the child back to the father and was forced to relieve the childs passport. the mother had also been proven in mediation reports from the childs teacher that she was not getting the child to school ontime Ever while the child was in her care, she had also had a CPS case for neglected opened against her. this judge over turned this order made the father get the child another Visa and gave the mother full custody Physical, and Legal on the testamony of her attorney who seemed to be a friend of his stating she felt her client was a good person and , that it was not the mother's fault the seven year old child was late to school that it was the childs fault. I am a mother myself and usually am all for mother's having the children but in this case it has been proven time and time again that she is truly an unfit parent, I am shocked and amazed to see a outstanding father who took great care of his child loose his 50/50 custody to only now get his child for approx. a 24hr time frame , there was no just reason for stripping the fahter of his parenting RIGHTS, with there being no just cause for this to happen. The judge chose to ignore all of the evidence he brought in against the mother , pshych reports, copies of previus court orders, ect. based on the statement given by his lawyer friend, the lawyer even began her defense by saying "your honor you know me" Roxanne Mosley is the attorney in this case and is just as shady as this judge if you ever see his name on any of your paperwork RUN as fast as you can to try to get it moved to be seen by another judge. He needs to be stripped of his tittle removed from the courts and never allowed to ruin father's and childrens lives.

If you can, use a 170.6 immediately upon begin sent into a hearing with the judge (especially if you are the non-custodial parent). His temper begins very mild, then all a sudden: RAGE! Also FYI his wife is an MFT, and he has a strong tendency to sent A LOT of people to massive amounts of therapy? Coincidence, or planned occupational path? He is OK with Parental Alienation, and believes that women should get what they want when they come into his courtroom.

This judge gave custody to a mother and stepfather who bit a 2yr old boy,4 other judges gave a no contact order.judge roman lifted the no contact and now this boy is still being abused by stepfather.He is the DEVIL.

Poor, avoid if possible. Were warned by the baliff about courtroom rules, should have been the first clue. I ended up in his court by chance, I was moved the day of the hearing to his court. The only positive was I got what I wanted, but would not want to go before him again. Smarty pants and little patience with In Pro Per cases.

Always sides with the Mom. Seems to be biased in favor of the attorneys he likes. Has granted 5% custody to a caring, hard working, and devoted father. No evendence to prove otherwise. Father volutarily took a co-parenting class and has been paying for a parent resouce center to monitor and check the child after every visitation. He has shown proof that the mother frustrates visitation by police reports and reports by the court appointed parenting center. Father is still only allowed 16hrs per week with his son.

Worst family law judge you can have. I should have asked for a continuance when Judge Mize was not in court today. I had some pretty bad judges but he is the worst uncareing for my children Everything and more awarded to the father with a threat my children would be taken away from me. I am the caring mother, father has said many times he does not want the children mainly the older daughter.

He is also responsible for keeping me away from my children, favoring my perjuring wife all day long, and fining me for her attorney's fees to make future perjurous claims. I've caught her in perjury finally, so let's see how Roman makes this my fault somehow!!!

Going thru divorce court with him has been pure hell. 5 times in front of him and he has agreed with my wifes attorney 5 times. He is the 5th judge and he is doing things the other 4 judges with the same lack of evidence didn't do... With him I have lost custody of my kids,

This guy smiles one minute, and is explosively angry the next. He is biased against defense lawyers and defendants. Avoid him if possible.
