Being a defendant in his court room after numerous violation hearings he was very fair and completley explained himself his actions.how ever hes is not the judge you want try and pull a fast one he will stop and go through your case page by page and lay down the law to the fullest .

Judge Tavelman was very professional on the bench during both pre-trial and during the trial itself. Although Judge Tavelman ruled several times against my client's position, as to pre trial motions, he explained his reasoning behind his decision and it showed that he actually gave the issue some thought. Overall, positive experience, jury verdict of not guilty obtained.

Very knowledgeable in both the criminal law and courtroom procedure. Judge Tavelman treats all persons appearing in front of him with respect (Defendants, Defense attorneys and District Attorneys) He listens to attorney's positions without cutting them off before he responds. He is on time and has a smoothly run courtroom. As a criminal defense attorney, I must say that he made some very well thought out rulings from the bench and took the time to explain. He is a former District Attorney, but is very fair and fair minded on the bench. I would like to see more judges on the bench like Judge Frank Tavelman as he's an asset to the Bench.

AT TIMES I THINK THAT HE IS FAIR AND AT OTHER TIMES I THINK THAT HE IS NOT FAIR.
SINCE MY SON'S MURDER CASE HAS NOT TAKEN PLACE YET I WILL HOLD OFF ON THE RATING OF THIS JUDGE. I WONDER ABOUT HIS FAIRNESS WHERE RACE IS CONCERNED

I like an efficient business oriented courtroom. This judge is very professional in that regard. He remembered my case, my previous appearance attorney, and my issues despite the case being only a few months old. He recognized that I was from far out of town and made an effort to complete my case prior to noon as a courtesy to me.
I was very impressed with the way my client and I were treated, especially by a judge who knows he may not see me in his courtroom again (my case settled today).
Defense attorneys and prosecutors were treated with the same dignity and manner... and it was noticeable to me because it doesn't always happen that way.
I witnessed several complex issues brought to this judge, and was completely impressed with his demeanor and his knowledge in handling each one.
