For parents who are having him for a custody battle prepare to have 50/50. This judge doesn’t care if your child is in danger, if the other parent doesn’t provide, if the parent doesn’t comply with a mediation order, if there is physical and verbal abuse, you don’t have to have proper communication with the other parent, you’re allowed to lie in his court room and you don’t have to sober when around your child because none of that matters according to him.

I neither like nor respect him as a man. He has serious trust and credibility issues. He is a person that I want to have absolutely no interaction with at any level and forum. If I see him at a restaurant, I will walk out and leave. I would not acknowledge him anywhere or dignify his presence.

Judge Liu is an excellent Judge. He always seems to make the correct decision. He is very fair, and he is very intelligent. He's one of the best Judges I've ever met. You can always count on Judge Liu being prepared. Thank you Judge Liu for working so hard and caring so much!

Judge Liu clearly has no grasp of family law. He is dedicated to giving Fathers 50/50 custody when it isn’t deserved. He insists that parents communicate when it’s obvious that they either can’t or won’t. He obviously cannot make the difficult judgements and rulings that are often required in Family Law Court. He relies on his support staff to make decisions because he lacks the experience. He needs to be replaced.

I submitted A Request and a Temporary Emergency Order over a week ago, and it is still not signed. I guess it is not important any more if the kids are in danger by the other parent. First it was the clerk that just let it sit, and then the judge is not signing it. Bring back the judges that actually did their jobs because the two Family laws ones that we have have now are the worst!!!

I am very thankful that he is no longer hearing criminal cases. Total arrogance. I hope his experiences in family law are humbling him. I doubt it. He is still a horrible judge and I have no use for him as a person.

Judge Liu seems wholly overwhelmed by family law. He is very thoughtful, but clearly is not comfortable with the civil laws and rules. He lets the "hometown boys" drone on and on, lets the calendar get away from him, and then punishes others for the delays caused by the one or two local "good ole boys" that seem to know him really well that have delayed everyone while enjoying the sound of their own voices.

Judge Liu clearly prepares, but needs to treat everyone in his court the same. Family law is different. It has different rules. I did not see the arrogance everyone previously comments on. I do see Judge Liu playing favorites, employing double standards, and clearly failing to fully comprehend how things work in family court. It seems to me that he needs to take a few weeks in a row off, re-balance himself, get his s**t together, and come back and try again. He has not been the even keeled, impartial, unbiased, academic jurist he had been for much of 2021, this summer. Not sure if he has something going on personally, but I think he needs to make some adjustments. He is a judicial officer and cannot earn and keep the trust of the community when even unsophisticated clients see the bias and worry deeply for their families, and those ahead of them in court.

He wants everyone to know that he is the smartest person in the courtroom. To his disappointment, HE IS NOT. I have no time for this arrogant behavior. I did not vote for him. If it was Trump or him on the ballot, I would vote for Trump.

I had a negative experience with him when he was a defense lawyer. I do not trust him as a judge. I have had negative experiences with him on the bench. I am glad I no longer appear before him. Thankfully.

I thought that he was not the right person to be on the bench. I felt that way a few years ago and I still feel that way in 2018. He is arrogant, condescending, insincere, and dismissive to people. I do not like how he has treated defense lawyers, prosecutors, and litigants in his courtroom. I find his actions annoying, offensive, and unacceptable. I would not trust this man. I never trusted him as a defense lawyer and a prosecutor.

I had no use for him as a prosecutor and a criminal defense lawyer. I have no further use for him in the judiciary. His opponent in the election would have been a far better judge than this guy.

He is an exceedingly arrogant individual who will go out of his way to belittle an attorney. I am retired lawyer who went to his courtroom to handle a case for a colleague who was on trial in another county and I was deeply and personally offended with this man's arrogance. I feel for the lawyers that I have to appear in front of him on a daily basis. I would hate to come to work each day if I were a prosecutor or a public defender assigned to his courtroom. This would be unbearable. I did not expect to see this in Monterey County. I have pleasant memories when I was actively practicing in the Bay Area to the Central Coast. I had cases in Monterey County and I was always pleased. However, this judge changed my opinion.
