We just finished our preliminary hearing in front of Judge Tavill. Even though we did not get the outcome we wanted, he made it a great experience.

He is fair, unbiased, and did not play favorites with the prosecution side. And to further add, he was kind, clever, and knowledgeable.

We do not come out to the San Bernardino Courthouse much, but we hope our next case is in-front of him.

Pro prosecution should not be appointed to the bench over writs will not even look at the defendants case states the the prosecutions witness was a liar proved to be a liar but it was okay because she did not want to go to jail, my son didn't want to go to prison either allowing this witness to make a seperate false accusations against my son and even stating she was to high to give the detective a description of the kidnappers she stated kidnapped her four months prior to making her false police report the judge is not qualified to review Habeas when he can not make a fair decision by not even looking at facts of the Habeas proving this prosecutor during this trial had no evidence to convict an innocent man both the judge and the DA were completely complicit with denying a defendant a right to a fair trial obvious prejudice and bias once you have been violated by the trial court you are further violated by this judge unable to make a fair decision he does not deserve to be sitting on the bench I would love to find a way to have him and the other self serving arrogant ass's off the bench

Allows social workers to submit known false evidence without fact and after evidence is proven false does not change his orders or charge the social worker for PC 132 and 134. He has no respect for justice, court system or the public he serves. As well he has no interest in what is best for the child in the case. Has no respect for California Law or what the citizens have voted into law. He needs to be voted out the next election.

Bad judge needs to be recalled. As far from fair as can be. Very pro-prosecution knowingly or unknowingly. Makes his decisions as if he were still a prosecutor for the DA's office, where he came from before being a judge.

Not a good judge because he's way too pro-prosecution. Can't separate his mindset as a former prosecutor from that of a fair, unbiased judge. This judge very rarely approves motions which benefit the defendant and sides with the prosecution 95% of the time. Get rid of this judge if you are a defendant and are unlucky enough to be assigned to this very biased judges courtroom.You will not receive a fair trial with this judge I assure you.

This judge was a prosecutor prior to taking the bench. I was so impressed with his fairness and compassion as a prosecutor - I recall asking him if he would consider seeking a judgeship. He has remained as fair and intelligent as a bench officer as he was as a prosecutor. I will never forget a day he sat in the jury box when my client, a gang member with a huge problem case asked to speak directly to the D.A. --
He spoke to that young man like a relative who truly cared about the young man's life.
Judge Tavill's sense of humor is dry, and quiet and it is a plus, but the true gift to attorneys in his courtroom is his intellect.
Judge Tavill does, for sure, do the work we all hope judges will do. He reads and considers the motions and briefs filed in his cases, and comes to proper legal conclusions. He is up to date on new cases as they come down, and takes his position as a judge seriously.
San Bernardino county is lucky to have Judge Tavill, neither side of a criminal litigation will ever perceive a bias from this judge -- it simply isn't there.
