In all my years in the field of Law, I have never encountered a more embarrassingly incompetent judge than Judge Link. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve won plenty of trials in his courtrooms, but even I know when I’m dealing with a good ol’ boy versus a judge who actually earned his gavel through hard work and experience. Perhaps it’s my Yale Law School/ivory tower bias, but the guy clearly hasn’t studied the penal code a single day in his life. What do you expect from a rich kid who attended the biggest party school (and least impressive UC) in California? I’ll be laughing when I see the fat ol’ Scrooge kick the bucket. The guy has clearly already had a few strokes, and it’s unclear why that wouldn’t be grounds for impeachment.

I have tried many cases in San Diego courts and throughout CA. Link is the best ever. No, he's not a friend or relative. A bit crusty, but dam smart on the law and Evidence Code. I would prefer hiw any time.

I have tried cases for 30 years. I did a semi-difficult fraud case with him. He was spot on in all his evidence rulings. His knowledge of the evidence code is impeccable. After the trial ended,, I realized I had totally agreed with every evidence ruling he made - and I have never said that before - and not all rulings went in my favor. He has excellent courtroom control, so if he acts like a king of the court, respect it, follow it and listen to him. This man knows what it takes to be a real judge and dispense justice. I would take him on any case. I also tried a case of defamation with him and he correctly threw it out immediately - which was correct. I was plaintiff atty on the first one and defense on the second. He needs to school the other civil judges that haunt the other departments.

I have been a trial lawyer for 29 years. He is the best trial judge I have been before. His knowledge of evidence law is encyclopedic. His control of his courtroom is undisputed. Some lawyers do not like him. I suspect they appeared not fully prepared. No organic fertilizer allowed.

Judge Link is a sweet curmudgeon. Though he will appear a bit surly and short with counsel, that is simply his way of letting you know who's boss, and perhaps to test your mettle. He is a fine man though and an excellent trial judge. You know you will get a fair shake with him.

He needs to be removed from the bench. Makes findings which are not based on the law, but instead based upon his own personal prejudices. I agree with the other review. He is a chameleon and gives the appearance that is an even handed judge, but has his own agenda.

I've been a lawyer for over 20 years. The worst judge that I have ever encountered. Nobody even close. If you are the defendant (civil or criminal) run from this guy as fast as you can. He seems like a cool guy before the trial, but you'll be hating life after the trial begins.

To give you an idea of what a wacko he is, he wears three black stripes on the arm of his robe, representing three people that he sentenced to death. That should tell you enough.
