This judge will sign off on anything put in front of her. This judge never heard my case but signed off on several orders. She was not even in the court house where my case was being heard.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comments:
Clearly allows herself to be swayed by people playing victim. Does not treat everyone fairly, is prejudiced by statements without looking at actual facts. Prejudiced against men in family court. Not concerned with justice.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comments:
A Judge who just fails to abide by the rules of the Practice Book. Was an average student graduating from a third tier college and a third tier law school. A feminist, is clearly prejudicial against men in the Family Court.

Judge Olear was originally promoted to Superior Court through contacts - her spouse is a member of the CT Supreme Court. Her background was all Real Estate Law before appointment, yet somehow that qualified her for hearing complex criminal cases. In one of her first cases on the bench she ignored blatant prosecutorial misconduct and made exceptionally poor rulings as too motions brought forward regarding that misconduct. That case was eventually overturned by the CT Supreme Court based on the obvious misconduct of the prosecutor. She was demoted to the Juvenile system - and I am not sure that she is even qualified for that.

Civil Litigation - Govt.

Comments:
A person of such demonstrative failure of juris prudence as Olear is proof positive that the Connecticut Judiciary is a fallacy. How a nomination and selection criteria of any merit could allow such incompetence to ascend to the bench is beyond understanding. The mark of an uncivilized society. Perks, favors, kickbacks, privilege all at the expense of children, families, hard earned savings. In a twisted strange way, the system worked a little bit. She pushed the limits of judicial impropriety to the point that the people's representatives had to check it. A House vote brought her down, completely. Banished to juvenile court to protect the society from further incompetence.

Comments:
I found Judge Olear to have good intentions and to try her best to produce fair rulings. Her thought processes were logical and in most occasions can produce a fair judgment. However, she does have a weakness that some lawyers and litigants (that play the victim) are able to exploit which unfortunately produces improper rulings. It’s not that Judge Olear naively trusts everyone, but she does give lawyers the benefit of the doubt of good intentions and gives victims benefit of the doubt of their victimization. In the case of lawyers, her naivety of trusting their good intentions produces pathetic rulings when the lawyer does not have good intentions. In the case of litigants claiming to be victims, even though she may not believe them, but does not know for sure, she plays it safe and gives the victim the benefit of the doubt which can also produce unfair rulings. I believe this bias is a part of her personality and a lawyer who can pick up on this would be in a position to manipulate a favorable ruling.
