I read some of the reviews about Judge Iscoe and I was so afraid he would be just another arrogant ass hole Judge. I was praying to God about the matter. God heard my prayers.

I agreed to represent a childhood friend. A person who has is an ex-convict and just a dishonest person. We ran track together in high school. He was lazy, but pretty good.I liked him as a child, so I tried to help him and he totally took advantage of me. He came to me in around October of 2017 and asked me to represent him in a Will Contest. I agreed to a Limited Appearance for the Will Contest. His sisters challenged a Will their mother signed.

In November of 2017 while working on the case, I had a heart attack. Thank God I survived. The client did not care and demanded I continue to represent him. So I continued to represent him.

After the trial in July 2019, to me the case was over. The case then went before Judge Ross, a black Judge. I told him my representation was over. He refused to release me from the case even though the client and opposing counsel consented to a Motion to Withdraw.

The case was then assigned to Judge Iscoe. The client was representing himself. Submitting his own pleadings. Today Judge Iscoe Ordered me released from the case "sua sponte" (on his own initiative). He basically said, although my Notice of Appearance for limited representation was imperfect, it was obvious that it was always my intent to be in the case only for a limited matter of the Will Contest. He used his wisdom and fairness. He didn't require me to file any other pleadings.

So it's like my grandfather in Louisiana told me as a child: "Black people are their own worst enemy. Sometimes a black person can get better treatment from a White person than one of their own."

Judge Iscoe did right by me, so I have to let y'all know.

Iscoe is a biased, egotistical ill-tempered judge. He decides the outcome before hearing the case and seems to think he has the right to disrespect litigants. His partiality seems based on external factors and he does not seem worthy of the respect he demands of anyone standing before him

Wow, the previous commentator nailed it. This guy is really erratic. He will yell at people at the top of his lungs. In years and years of practice, I have only seen a couple as crazy as this guy. Feel sorry for the clients.

Just another DC hack transferred to family court who thinks the $29 robe he bought bestows infinite wisdom. He looks and acts hungover, and is truly incompetent. Settle! Don't go before him.

Judge Iscoe knows what he will do before attorneys can make their cases. He is rude and sarcastic and doesn't understand certain areas of civil jurisprudence, and apparently has no interest in reading filings which might prove helpful in making an informed decision.

Not a bad man but has a reputation for being moody and for jumping to conclusions. when he's in a good mood he can be very pleasant, but catch him on a bad day and he'll really go off on you and make facial expressions. it's unpredictable. ive seen him go off on others and its quite petty for a judge that has potential to be so much more. i think he's very sharp, but easily manipulated at times by his staff and lets them do too much of his thinking. frankly, its unbecoming of a judge. i learned from a friend that used to work for him that he really goes to bat for his staff, even when they are wrong so be very careful of making any enemies of the law clerks or courtroom clerks. I was told that all the clerks had to do was tell on the attorney and he would go off on them, particularly criminal defense CJA attorneys or PDS. staff definitely picked up on it and use it to their advantage. shocking that a judge could be so arbitrary but it was coming from an inside source who had no reason to lie-indeed he benefited from it. totally changed by perception of him as a polite, sharp individual who cares about making the right decision.

Disregard my comments from January 27. Judge Iscoe was having a bad day when I appeared before him, and I was having a bad day when I wrote the comment. The judges have a hard enough time without having to read anonymous whining(if they choose to). I wouldn't want their job for all the money in the world. I put a second rating of all 10s that I hope will balance out my previous rating, until I figure out how to remove it.

In 30 years of practice, I don't know if I've ever appeared before a judge with so little intellectual curiosity. He'd made up his mind on how he was going to rule even before the ISC and tried to rule on a motion to dismiss before I had a chance to file an opposition. He reluctantly decided to forebear from granting the motion at the ISC, but later gave the impression that he didn't bother reading my P&A, simply citing the opponent's without any mention of mine. I've heard anectdotally that he has a high reversal right. About the only good things I'd say about Judge Iscoe is that he takes the bench on time and is pleasant.
