She is not just super smart and well-poised, but extremely hardworking, respectful of everyone and upholds the integrity and independence of our court. Judge Josey-Herring is one of the more thoughtful judges on the bench, she is even handed, gives you a fair trial. Judge Josey-Herring is very mindful in sentencing, she is fair, just & equitable.

Judge Josey-Herring is an excellent judge. She is always well prepared and she carefully listens to both the government and the defense. Her decisions are fair and well thought out. As a criminal defense attorney, I may not get the result I want but I always walked away feeling like my client was treated fairly.I have never tried a case before her but my colleagues who have say that she gives you a very fair trial.

Recent ligitation before Judge Jose-Herring was a waste of time researching and submitting briefs to the court. She is over booked and doesnot read the information submitted. As a result, she confuses the parties argument as rules based on information that she quickly reviews in chambers just prior to hearing a case. This has an impact on her rulings which affects her appearance as competent. Although displays at times a good temperment, her wanting to clear her docket to readily and quickly has resulted in the need to file appeals unnecessarily. I would strongly suggest Judge Josey-Herring to review her case load to assess whether she has enough time to PROPERLY AND EFFICIENTLY REVIEW A CASE BEFORE SHE TAKES THE BENCH TO HEAR IT!

Totally anti-pro se. She does not let you speak. Constantly interrupting and asking if you are a lawyer. In her world only those who know their rights are worthy enough to be respected. In one case she denied a jury trial to two litigants. In that same case she took just about all 25 of the exhibits of the represented party and none from the pro se litigants. The party whose evidence she accepted is called First Mount Vernon, a
company that placed a mortgage with an interest rate of 24 percent and 30 percent
closing costs on a home. Best of all First Mount Vernon claims that the homeowner sold the house to it for no money on the same day he bought the house and obtained a loan from it. First Mount Vernon brought the case to court seeking declaratory judgment because a sales deed had no witnesses other than a notary that works for First Mount Vernon. The person that First Mount Vernon claims it gave the loan to is limited in speaking English. So it appears as though 24 percent interest rates and 30 percent closing costs will be legal in DC soon. Judge Josey-Herring has a wonderful temperment. Very pleasant. Tries to keep things moving on a heavy docket. The only negative comment is that she is not an intellectual and will struggle with unfamiliar or difficult legal issues. That said, she allows counsel to educate her, unlike other judges who may presume to know it all.
