She is my professor at the University of Miami. It is the favorite class I have ever taken during my whole university experience. I have also sat on the bench with her is court numerous times. I have only witnessed her (over numerous days) being thoughtful, just, and determined to find the best solution for all parties involved. Not to mention the class she teaches focuses on implicit bias, so obviously this is a key thought process she thinks about in any sentencing.

I hear that this judge is a fair judge but I completely disagree I've seen him pressure defendants to take pleas even if he knows that there not guilty and when he talks down at them he signals court reporter not to record what he will tell defendant he uses excuse that his court room is being odited cause of too many trials and if defendant is found guilty he would punish defendant to full extend of the law in which it scares a lot of innocent defendants and I think someone should put a stop to this judge and his reign of unfair practice

Overall, an arrogant, pompous, pedantic windbag. In the smarts department, no street sense, but very scholarly. If we have to have arrogant and obnoxious judges, (and we do), they should at least have something to back it up... and Judge Hirsch does. Doesn't always make the right ruling, but always the "smartest guy in the room." I give him a solid 5 with room to grow, if he's willing to come out of the ivory tower and live in the real world.

Judge is a true judicial scholar and a fine addition to the criminal bench. Has a great sense of humor, a little biting and a bit dry. Has all the attributes to be the finest circuit judge now on the bench. But judge must remember that he is in state court not federal court and many of the young lawyers that appear before him have never been mentored to practice before a judge that expects to be prepared for trial in a timely way but be well versed in the applicable law as well. The judge places a challenge before each lawyer that appear before him, state or defense, to be prepared and not come before him with the usual excuses.

Judge Hirsch has the potential to someday be a Supreme Court Justice (Fla) or a federal district court judge. However, now he is on the circuit court criminal bench and we are fortunate to have him.
