Civil Litigation - Private

Comments:
Avoid if possible. Arrogant. Does not know substantive law. Does not know civil procedure or evidence or how to preside over a trial. The last person who should have an appointment to anything having to do with deciding on the lives of children. With almost no accountability this magistrate has an abusive temperament. Not qualified. If you are an attractive female attorney or have an attractive female client, run! Favors connected powerful lawyers.

Comments:
This Magistrate is unqualified. She has applied to be a Circuit Judge many times and has never been among those recomended by the Judicial Qualifications Commission to be elevated to Judge. Seems she decides things on whims. Frequently agrees with a handful of lawyers that she is friendly with. Avoid unless she is friendly with your lawyer. Can be somewhat vindictive specially if her rulings are questioned.

Temperamental and unpredictable. Can be short and kind of nasty. I would avoid if possible.

Yadira has outright told me that "I dont believe father's should be in the life of children"

This is crushing when facing parental alienation and destructive to the child.

Yadira should not be in her position.

Do not go to hearings without a court reporter. Unpredictable, moody and has a nasty disposition. Tends not to follow established legal precedent. How well connected your attorney is counts. Has favorites. Has a bias towards men.

Comments:
Had an unpleasant first experience with the Family Court Magistrate. Avoid if possible. Have your case decided by the Circuit judge instead of this magistrate. Lacking in common courtesy and humility. Acts as if she were a dictator instead an impartial servant of justice. Inpatient. Rash and inflexible.

Lacking in patience, common courtesy and judicial temperament. Bossy. Poor communication skills. Impulsive.

Comments:
I had several cases before her and she was at all times, courteous, professional, respectful, and knowledgeable. She takes notes, reviews them, listens to everyone, and is very patient and fair. She was that way on the cases where there was a lawyer on the other side and on the cases where the other sides were self-represented (and one clearly committed forgery and she was still nice and courteous with him). She was also that way in cases I represented the father/husband, so I have never seen any bias from her. I do not understand why people would not like her and the critics are truly underserved.

Mom judge. One sided. Even when presented with affidavits and subpoena from DCF, ignored facts and dismissed.

I agree with the previous comments. She definitely does not follow the law and is very bias easily intimated my males and allows far too much leeway. She wrote motions that ultimately resulted in my child being missing for three weeks. Has no care or concerns as far a decisions made.

Yadira Pedraza bases her rulings on emotions. Like someone said in the previous comments, there's no knowing what will set her off. Very unfair magistrate with a grandiose complex. I don't wish her on my worst enemy. Not professional at all. My advice would be to try to stay calm in front of her because she is ruthless. She threatened to give my child to her father when her father was not there when she was a baby and is barely there now. All he does is provoke me so that I tell him off and look like the crazy one. This judge couldn't see that and was not interested at all in my side of the story. She also did not follow the ruling based on what was on his motion.

(Redacted by Editors). Unpredictable emotional responses. impulsive rulings. Views herself in a grandiose way. Looking for the quick resolution. Difficult to predict what will set her off. Definitely has her favorites and if you are not represented by one of her favorites watch out.

I represented myself Pro Se. There were a few issues which were to be decided at the hearing. First of all, law goes out the window. With full and competent evidence, witnesses, and law to back you up, she does what she wants, threatening to do the same to you even though the other party has NO EVIDENCE at all. The other attorney was told to write the recommended order which was written INCORRECTLY in favor of his client. I wrote a letter to GM Pedraza of the discrepancies and requested that she write the order herself and to take in consideration the court recorded audio to confirm I was correct. She ignored and signed the recommended order anyway! She signed it even though it was NOT even what SHE said! WOW! Now I have to get an order to get a transcript of the audio from a court reporter and file an objection! What a waste of time! All these lawyers look at a Pro Se and see them as taking away their business and they want to keep the peace with their fellow lawyers. No wonder people don't trust lawyers and the system is so corrupt.

She's an idiot! First, your a Magistriate in a court room, this is not a beauty pageant.Dress from neck up appropriately & conservative. Not tons of makeup with long hair teased down in front of your robe on your shoulders. She rules by her"feelings"& not by evidence & law. Has No respect for ProSe because when challenged her incompetence is threatened by a nonlawyer. Easily intimidated by bully attorneys and prefer to support an attorney to further her own career than support and rule by the law. She's needs to be removed from the bench.

Extremely fair, patient and knowledgable judge. She listens to both sides carefully, reviews pleadings rather than just taking the defendant or plaintiff's word etc - nice to see a judge who actually cares enough to read, pay attention to the pleadings filed in the case etc. Wish she was a full fledged judge. Been before others such as caballero who appear to be fair but doesn't really listen and is more defendant/respondent friendly.

She is a very fair, professional and ethical judge. She hears both sides and gives everyone an equal opportunity to speak, prior to ruling.

She has a double standard. When I wasn't represented by a lawyer, she was barely civil, but when my *male* lawyer was there she's "all nice". Either way, I don't think she is very fair. Whenever I have a "real" judge like Kreeger, Gross, Sarduy, etc., I feel like I get a fair trial. Hope she's never a full judge. Having/Not having a lawyer shouldn't affect the way that you are being treated by a judge/magistrate.

Not very bright. Reduced child support when there was no substantial change in circumstance and former husband had increase in income. Basis was to bring child support within guidelines despite parties entering in to marital settlement agreement for amount above guidelines. Had to appeal decision. Imagine she was trying for a county court judge position. She needs to learn the law.
