A sentence of 90 years for an 18-year-old constitutes a form of cruel and unusual punishment that starkly contrasts with principles of justice and rehabilitation. At such a young age, an individual is still in the formative stages of development, with their identity, moral compass, and decision-making abilities not yet fully matured. Imposing a near-lifetime sentence on someone so young effectively condemns them to a life devoid of hope, opportunity for growth, and the possibility of reintegration into society. It disregards the potential for rehabilitation and ignores the fundamental belief that people, especially those as young as 18, can change and should be given the chance to demonstrate that change. Such a harsh sentence not only devastates the individual but also raises serious ethical and legal questions about the fairness of a justice system that opts for punitive measures over restorative ones.
Not only is the above true but the attorney that represented my son, committed suicide and was also sentenced for DUI a year prior to sentencing my son. The attorney was leaving a strip club and pulled over for DUI (only charge guilty) the other charges were hasish, cocaine, gun in commission of felony and then the same attorney violated. Had this attorney, reported this unethical behavior to the bar I would have never hired him. Instead he lied, as he did with the Florida Supreme Court, promising my son, a youthful offender charge and a 6 year sentence to plea. This same judge sentenced that attorney and should have reported him to the Florida Bar. Shame on you! 90 years is so cruel for an 18 year old. How you sleep with yourself is sad. At 17 it’s considered cruel and unusual punishment but one year later it is not. I’m not sure how many people this has been done to but it’s Barbaric.

This Judge has no respect for anyone's time in her court room. She is routinely late to Court. She is unable to run her schedule effectively.

Rick Scott’s mistake! Very unfair. Uses her past experiences with DCF and sentences based on her experiences. She claims to be for the “children” and definitely is not. She’s biased and for the State of Florida regardless of the facts. She’s getting too old for her job and her red face looks like she drinks like a fish. She runs her fundraiser for the children with the local sheriffs and attorneys. She rules in their favor quite frequently.

Below average. She sentenced people to extremely long prison sentences. She has her fund raisers with attorneys and sheriffs which are constantly in her court room. She’s in the “good old boy town”. She needs to be evaluated by the JQC. On a scale of 1-10. She gets a 1 and that’s being excessive. If there were less judges like her this world would be a better place. Gators suck. Don’t re-elect this awful judge!

My case was several years ago and she had it illegally transferred to her court. Then she fined me for $1000 for no reason at all. Then she threatened to put me in jail even after the lady that was supposed to be the plaintiff said she couldn't say it was my dog and was sure the person she saw wasn't me. I had proof it could not have been me, I was on camera ALL DAY. This "judge?" came from CPS straight to the bench in Brevard county??? I was told she was appointed to the bench in our county after she lost the Schiavo case, guess she's a REALLY SORE LOSER. The lady that was supposed to be opposing me was so shocked and scared for me, she STRONGLY advised me to hire an attorney, which I did. The lady said she truly feared for my life. That was BY FAR THE BEST MONEY I HAVE EVER SPENT. He immediately got the case transferred back to the original/rightful judge and it was handled LEGALLY. The "prosecutor" didn't even have the guts to show up. There were A LOT of attorneys there that day and I was lucky enough to leave with my life after a qualified judge handled the case. She is in my opinion and from my experience inept, not qualified and a horror to go before. I have NO IDEA why she is still on the bench. I never see her on a ballot, does she just sit there for life like the Supreme court justices? To me, the world would be a MUCH better place with her never having been in it. She was a horror and in NO WAY deserving of the title "honorable." Horrible is more accurate.

This Judge is biased against Men and Fathers. She made up her own rules and didn’t bother following a previous court order that was in place.
She ordered me to pay $3,000 to my x wife in medical bills even though our child has insurance and at the top of the bill it clearly says BCBS. This judge blatantly lied and said she paid them. Apparently this judge is above the law and obviously believes all women without any evidence.

My case involves Sheriffs who tampered with evidence badly. They altered witness testimony, destroyed my bloody shirt that showed I was badly beaten. They even took my blood splattered baseball hat clubbed from my head, and listed it as the alleged victims property to deny me my own property at trial. My court appointed lawyers have hurt my case so badly by doing very little, and dragging this case out; a tactic well known to illicit anger in Judges. They even hid depositions from me, and now still even refuse to enter my medical records; they show I had a skull gash right were the blood splatter on the hat is, my hat. This alleged victim lied to the state attorney that I was stalking him etc... to get my bond revoked. I never stalked him, or anything, and Judge McKibben saw through it, and protected me from him. She was right to not revoke, as he was lying, and it was obvious to everyone there in court. So I can say not all claims of stalking etc... are real, and I know first hand. In order to have my own property that was tampered by Sheriffs at my trial, I might have to represent myself to that end. If Judge McKibben actuallly prevents me from using my own property at trial that resides in evidence, that was intentionally mislabled then she is with out doubt a hater of fair play, and true rule of law, but I don't think she is. I need her to be consitutionally honest. These cases effect entire families, not just the person, and it needs to be right, and I believe she truly desires fair play in her court. Myself, and my family pray she will be fair, I think she will be, I hope she will be.

She's shown extreme patience and a desire to see a fair trial had for me so far. Keep eyes on your lawyer as they will do you the damage not so much her. Speak up cause' she'll let you and she seems to genuinely listen. Be honest she'll see that. But you must understand the constitution as it's your only protection and she does seem to honor it as it's written. She's all business in the court room and not very chummy with either sides counsel. Again I write this stating, "so far so good", but I could be wrong in the end, I hope not.

This judge is the worst. She does not do her research and is careless. Its obvious she does not want to do her job! People who are in fear for their life is no joke, she treats the petitioner like they are the criminal very unfair! I tried to get a hearing for a serious stalking issue she would not even give me a court date to present my case. The same stalker was arrested a couple of weeks ago for aggravated stalking and he had a firearm when the police arrested him. He got 4 felony charges and 2 misdemeanor charges. The woman he committed these acts against filed once again for another injunction and judge Kelly Jo Mckibben denied it again! Unbelievable.

This Judge is the worst i have very seen in over five years of dealing with brevard county courts. While waiting my turn as a man to go in front i watched four other hearings and all men where discredited and all woman where thought of as the truth tellers. I am pro se and she holds me to a higher standard than the lawyers my evidence had to be clear and convincing and the woman was good on her word

This judge made decisions, not based on fact in my case, but based on her opinion, swayed by blatant lies from the other party and did not make the other party comply with her order to both of us. Really a joke. Shouldnt be on the bench.
