Bad judge, appears to be a nice person, but appearances can be misleading. I am not a bitter losing litigant , actually I won my case. I have had the opportunity to appear in front of many judges and this gentleman rates poorly over all.

Without question the worst sitting circuit judge. Indecisive. Changes rulings midway through litigation. Flip flops. Does not understand the law, has no idea what civil litigation is. Used to be a real estate lawyer, doubtful he even ever watched a TV show trial. It's a joke if you appear before him. Doesn't care what the cost to the litigants is, will delay and push things back, have everyone appear for hearings that are unnecessary then reverse himself later. If you can avoid this judge do so at all costs. On the positive side, he is a pleasant person to counsel.

strongly favors local litigants local attorneys, born raised and has lived all his life in Key West is 100% conch in his attitude, philosophy, etc. beware out-of -towners

As a retired attorney in Key West who practiced with Judge Koenig I found him to be an arrogant bully who tried to win by intimidation and definitely thought he was better than everyone else. I was shocked by his appointment as judge as he could have never won an contested election. I feel sorry for Monroe County and am glad I am no longer there.
