Terrible judge . Does not have the judicial temperament or ability to reason. Makes impulsive decisions out of anger and ego. There is a reason they moved him to traffic court. He still is terrible there too.

Last week Judge Rohm refused to give court supervision to a first offender on a DUI charge. The defendant was eligible for court supervision, but he received a conviction instead. This is very rare, in my opinion. Now, this particular defendant crashed his car into the back of a 24 year old girl's car, causing her to lose consciousness for several minutes, while blood gushed from her head. She now suffers from severe PTSD. First offenders receive court supervision in almost all cases. This should not happen, and it doesn't in Judge Rohm's courtroom. We really, really need more judges like him. I was so hoping he would put this criminal in jail. I think he almost did, but ultimately did not. Honestly, I could see the anguish in his face when he decided not to put this criminal in jail. My only criticism is that he should have.

Yesterday he sentenced a crying young girl, with an otherwise unblemished record, to the minimum sentence allowed by law. Nevertheless, she was still uncontrollably despondent. He said to her: "It's ok. You are way too strong and way too smart to let this define you. You are better than this and you can't ever let something like this happen again." "I promise," said the young girl. The very next person, who had multiple priors, 3 I think, was next to appear and Judge Rohm unapologetically sentenced him to 6 months in jail. This is exactly what we need from a judge. Empathy, understanding, and kindness. Emphasis on the kindness.

To those who questioned the decision to move Judge Rohm to the criminal division, you were wrong!! Especially the harsh criticism from the most recent poster, who recklessly and erroneously slandered the entire 18th judicial circuit. The "powers that be" actually do know what they're doing. I can't comment on him as a law division judge, as I was never before him when he was there, but I have been in front him on a regular basis since he has taken over the 4017 call. Excellent judge. Kind, empathetic and smart.

I have never posted on a site like this but felt I needed to vent. I just appeared, via Zoom, for what was supposed to be Judge Rohm's call. Well, not any more. I have completely lost my faith in our local judicial system. They moved him to a criminal courtroom. I don't believe he has any criminal law background. At least, I don't believe he does. Instead, I knew him as a civil attorney for more than 15 years before he took the bench. What the hell is going on in DuPage County? Who the hell is making these ridiculous decisions? What an absolute waste of talent. Judge Rohm is known to be an extremely intelligent person, so I have no doubt he will excel wherever they ill advisably put him. But shouldn't these decisions be made in the best interests of the residents of DP County? Shouldn't the best civil judges preside over a civil courtroom? Obviously NOT!!! That would make way too much sense. Extremely confused and pissed about this move.

Very conscientious; smart; open-minded; ethical; courteous; well informed; follows the law.

I appeared as a lawyer tens of dozena of times in his courtroom. I suspect that the 2 negative comments below were made by people who had no understanding of their situation. Judge Rohm bends over backwards to do the right thing and treats litigants with dignity and enormous respect

I just completed jury duty and Judge Rohm was the judge on the case. I served as a juror one time before in Chicago. What a difference. Chicago judge=jerk. Judge Rohm=awesome. He is clearly a very nice guy, with a nice deep voice. He appears to be experienced in presiding over jury trials, for what I could tell, and will call out an attorney if they do something wrong. He said we were the first trial he has had since the pandemic and our safety seemed to be one of his main concerns. And we all felt safe. He also explained things well and kept us updated on the progress of the trial. Believe it or not, I really didn't mind jury duty at all, even during a pandemic.

I'm incredibly disappointed that they moved him out of the foreclosure call. That's hugely unfortunate for all who have business in room 2004. Great judge and an even better human being.

Rohm is the BEST judge on the entire planet. He saved my home from foreclosure. He didn't have to but he did!!!! Because of him me, my husband and my 3 kids had a wonderful Christmas and hope to have many more in our house which we have lived in for 22 years. This man really cares and obviously has the biggest heart in the world. I love this man. If any one questions this, just sit in his court room and watch him. He is in room 2004 in the Wheaton Courthouse. I have been in his court room at least a dozen times and he always shows that he is incredibly kind and compassionate. ALL judges should be like him, which unfortunately they are not. To the 2 idiots that posted bad things about him F-You!!!
