One of the easiest judges to try a case before. As a new attorney, she allowed me time to gather my thoughts and was supportive throughout the entire process. I give this judge a 10.0 rating WITHOUT RESERVATION!!!

Easily the worst judge I have had to try a case with, by far. On objections from either side, she would look up from whatever she was reading and say "move on." When pressed for whether "move on" meant "sustained" or "overruled," she got frustrated with me questioning the court and still didn't answer the question. On appeal, when I got to review the transcript, "move on" meant both sustained and overruled at different times (as best as I could ascertain her intent). Then she granted a new trial, then on reconsideration reversed her ruling, deciding she would just let the COSA deal with it. She should not be on the bench for circuit court matters -- the cases are too important.

This judge works hard to get parties to settle, and sometime goes too far in trying, but otherwise a fair judge.

Judge Geter has abused her position and should be removed from the bench! She made my life a living HELL by forcing me to be in an abusive environment DESPITE the evidence presented in her courtroom! I know justice is blind but her gross misconduct needs to be reviewed by her peers and folks effected should compensated. I personally would not want anyone else to be abused because Melanie Shaw Geter has a God complex.

Judge Geter has said she likes the power of being a judge. Though it's obvious without the admission. She loves to be "better" than ordinary folk (your lowly clients) and she'll be sure to pontificate in a condescending manner. Arrives late, leaves early.

I think that she was outstanding and empathetic during my relative trial. He needed help and she kept her word that she would refer him to mental health and hygeine and she did! Thank you for going the extra mile when others didn't. He is now getting the help and treatment that was needed a long time ago.

Acts like she has better things to do and other places to be. Does not pay attention during trial and when an objection pops up says "move on".
Weak on law, procedure.

Not very cheerful. Seems detached. Grumpy when you don't settle. Arrived one hour late in the morning and 20 minutes late in the afternoon without an explanation or apology.
