Terrible. Doesn't listen or follow the law. Pro-Big Law. If you get him, quickly withdraw your case, unless you are a Big Law firm.

Just had a damages trial in front of Judge Latin. He helped resolve the liability issues and lock in a high/low on damages. The trial went well. He handled the scheduling, evidentiary rulings and charges without a problem. He is an excellent judge and does not bully the side that he cannot get to settle. My client got a fair trial and even though we lost there is no complaints as to the trial and how Judge Latin handled things from beginning to end. I think Judge Latin is one of the best judges in Queens if not NYC.

Certainly a thoughtful jurist, but ignores the law when he wants a specific outcome. I had a motion before him where the binding precedent mandated dismissal. He reached the conclusion that recent societal changes warranted letting the case to go forward.
A court of last resort may change precedent on the basis of changes in society, as many an appellate court in certain circumstances. A trial-level judge may not. The lower courts are obligated to follow precedent unless there is a clear signal from the legislature that it wants to change a specific rule of law.

I tried a case before Judge Latin and was pleased with how he ran things. I had never heard of him, and he was hidden away in Long Island City. Trials are very stressful, and this judge did nothing to add to the stress. Very fair to both sides, and resolved a couple of complex issues. I wasn't thrilled with all of his rulings, but overall, he did a good job. I would not hesitate to try other cases before him.

I have appeared before Judge Latin multiple times in Civil Queens. He is an excellent judge with a great personality for the bench. He has tremendous experience and was a law secretary for many years. He can get cases settled and will let you try your case. He will be a huge asset of the Queens bench.

He was confused and couldn't differentiate between a male and female attorney. He first wanted the history and then didn't- he ignored facts and the failure of the defendant to produce exhibits. Went before 7 judges until this guy ruled against me. He proved that justice is not just blind but deaf and dumb. He was too tired to do night court. He should do parking tickets....
