Rating:1.0
Comments:
Judge Weisberg is an arrogant pseudo-intellectual who thinks that he is the smartest person in the room, but cannot perform the basic functions of his job such as writing decisions anywhere near on time.

Judge Weisberg persistently raises arguments sua sponte on behalf of landlords who are represented by attorneys, and then takes many many months to decide the alleged issues of first impression that he himself created from thin air just so he can seek credit for writing a purportedly unique or insightful decision. He also constantly interjects unnecessary confusion into cases for which other more competent judges would likely be able to mediate settlement, by going off on tangents about his academic arguments that neither party was thinking of or citing as a basis to interrupt the normal course of the case. The end result is that tenants live with unsafe conditions for longer. This is not an efficient, practical, or just conception of the judicial system.

His main goal as a judge seems to be to legislate from the bench so that he can support his personal ambitions to be considered some kind of intellectually important judge. Unfortunately, he ignores the law, does not read statutes or controlling cases, and assumes his novel arguments to be true without providing any legal authority to support them. When he is asked to support these arguments he often cites law from completely irrelevant contexts or jurisdictions and complains about how things are done better in that context.

In terms of his "work ethic," he takes months to issue decisions in simple matters and in emergency matters. Some decisions, including in emergency HP matters, have been delayed more than 6 months. He even wrote a reported decision about how hard it is for him to have both trials and resolution part matters in the part, even though plenty of HP judges preceding him were able to handle this. He also has no interest in participating in or facilitating settlement discussions. He has now twice expended his entire tenure in the HP in Housing Court being vindictive towards tenants and their attorneys because of his apparent dissatisfaction with being placed in that part.

Judge Weisberg lacks the maturity, intellect, or motivation to be a Housing Court judge.

Laziest judge in the courthouse. Shows up late or not at all. Does anything he can to avoid work and completely biased when he does have to make a ruling. Complains constantly about being in the HP Part of the courthouse and has managed to annoy HPD and litigants' attorneys on both sides alike. Can't handle the easiest courtroom in the building which has run efficient for 30 years without incident. Stops HPD doing its job and has made it impossible for private parties to settle. Seems to hate his job and be doing everything possible to get transferred out.

Hon Weisberg is a great judge. He knows how to handle cases against MAJOR criminally INDICTED slumlords such as the notorious SOLOMON Z FEDER aka 146 Linden Blvd LLC. Unlike Hon Weisberg there are terrible judges such as Sulay K Grant who is in favor of slumlords. She doesn't even come up on the roster in this Robing room.

He is absolutely terrible. Many landlords and tenant cases (90% of all his cases) that goes through him is stuck. No solution. Destroyed many families and lives. Good luck if you have his as a judge for your case.

He does not listen to no one but legal aids. He trys to belittle tenants as if they don't have any knowledge when case is brought to his attention he pretends to know nothing just to waste more time repeating the same thing that happened from last case.

Comments:
When he was the HP judge in Kings he did nothing but create more work for the judges after him. Cases with serious conditions were delayed unendingly and parties in complex cases were expected to reach a resolution without any intervention from him. Decisions took forever to issue and when they did issue he would punt and reach a result that only created more litigation. Gets lost in his own head. Truly confusing judge.
