Comments:
Unengaged. Immature. No effort or interest in settlement discussions. Shows up late and hurries everyone. Plays favorites and often won’t even acknowledge an attorney he doesn’t know or like. Have seen him explode and throw attorneys out of his courtroom for disagreeing with him or attempting advocacy. Acts like it’s all a big game he’s playing until his next promotion. Bad fit and poor judicial temperament for a serious Trial Part.

Comments:
Highly overrated. Ten cases on in the pre-trial part and this supposed great settler was just going through the motions. Case after case getting trial dates. When my turn came, he made no effort. It was all I could do to get him to speak with the defense lawyers privately to try and gage their position. Although he did it, he didn’t even have the decency to call me back in. He just sent the lawyers out to say we were excused. He looked bored. Maybe he’s thinking about the Appellate Division.

Judge Silvera is one of the best, if not the best Judicial assignments. If you are assigned to his part, you and your client are assured to fairly and evenly have their day in Court. You are very lucky. He treats everyone with the utmost respect and gets right to the point. I have been practicing for decades and it's always a pleasure to appear before this Judge, whether it a simple cause of action, or an extremely complex action - it makes no difference and this Judge always keeps an eye towards resolving and settling the action. Again, you are lucky.

Comments:
As a personal injury attorney with over 20 years of experience, the majority of which has been running my own plaintiff personal injury firm, I can say without hesitation that this judge is one of the best to work with. He has what many other judges lack, work ethic, pragmatism & the ability to help effectuate settlement of cases. A skill that is sorely lacking in many judges we appear in front of. It is refreshing and a pleasure to work with a judge who knows what it is like to practice the law.

I have found him to be fair and evenhanded, willing to listen, and am shocked to see the negative reviews.

Justice Silvera easily handles the most complex issued and cases with ease. He's respectful to the attorneys and the parties -- a judge that is listens then make a well-reasoned decision. Judge Silvera is fair, and any attorney would be lucky to be assigned to him. He firm and fair, and knows the facts of each case and has a great command of the law.

Comments:
Judge Silvera was assigned to handle an extraordinarily complex and contentious civil action which he handled with patience and respect. He issued a timely well reasoned decision that reflected an intimate understanding of the issues in the matter. The temperament and intelligence he demonstrated would be an incredible asset were it to have been a lengthy and complex trial.

I find this judge ignores key pieces of evidence both sign and emailed. He is pompous and is more in a rush than in understanding the case before him. Extremely poor judge.

This judge is an idiot. He is not qualified to sit in the seat as a Judge. He is totally biased against minority. and all about politics. He decided which side he is going to be without looking into facts and the interpretation of the law. He should be disqualified.

He is disrespectful, rude, unfair and a disgrace to the robe and podium he sits behind. He is small minded, simple minded, and easily influenced by the words of others with no evidences or facts. He should not even be entitled to the position he is in.

I have been a commercial litigation attorney for 28 years. This is my first robingroom review of any judge. I observed Judge Silvera on the bench twice and saw him handle many cases. He was fair, intelligent, articulate and had a good nature. He treated counsel with respect and handled himself the way all judges should. He was firm when he needed to be but never hostile. He had a calm matter of fact demeanor and took a practical approach to try to get the parties to see weaknesses in their cases and oral argument and to get them to resolve disputed matters on his calendar.

seems to have a large ego & seems retaliatory if you do not do as he wants & seems to bias his interpretation of the facts & the law to match his biases.

It is amazing how this Judge Adam Silvera has a total disregard for for a sign agreement. He makes up his own laws. He's like a Judge Trump. I now I have to go for an appeal. I'm sure many of Silvera's judgements have been appealed!

Graduated from law school in 2001 yet by 2016 was still unaware that a corporation in NY must be represented in court by counsel rather by its owner. I would be unimpressed by any practicing lawyer who wasn't aware of this law -- but a sitting judge?! Unbelievable.
