Fair-minded and even-handed. He allows the lawyers to try their cases and protect the record when necessary. He is extremely courteous and will not insert himself into issues when the parties agree-e.g. witness scheduling etc. An excellent trial judge.

I do not remotely agree with the extremely negative reviews on this site about Justice Reilly. I recently handled a lengthy complex civil jury trial before Justice Reilly and found him to be a delight to practice before. He was prepared, punctual, organized, courteous, humorous, and willing to listen to arguments by counsel at all times. To be clear, I am referring to Justice David T. Reilly of Supreme Court, Suffolk County lest there be another Justice by the same name practicing in Nassau County as indicated by this site. In our lengthy matter, Justice Reilly commanded the respect of counsel, the parties, the jury and did so with extreme patience and deference. As a trial court judge, I believe most practicing attorneys would rate Justice Reilly highly and would not agree with the balance of reviews on this page.

There is something really wrong with this judge. His decisions in my case have been entirely one-sided, with mistakes and omissions of legal basics. He appears to be downright inconsiderate of the law, especially case law. I'm between incompetent, biased/bigoted, or both. As of now, he's both to me.

Something is not right with this judge, and hasn't been for years. He's pleasant enough, and seems like he could be a decent judge, but appears to picks a side and then knowingly tries to bend the law or otherwise wield his authority capriciously to favor whoever he sympathizes with. The problem is exacerbated by the 2d Dept being so backed up, so a lot of appeals probably aren't pursued, but it would be interesting to see stats as to how often he gets reversed.

I have found that Judge Reilly's post-covid remote status conferences to be unexpectedly productive. He is engaged in the facts of the case, discovery issues and, more importantly, guiding the parties towards potential early resolution when available. I wish more judges would take such a personal approach which would result in more productive conferences than the pro forma ones usually conducted before the law secretaries.

This Judge should be barred from the Court System. He is an absolute disgrace to our legal system. No wonder he was removed from Matrimonial and shipped out to Riverhead.. A petition should be started to have his cases re-heard by competent fair Judges and at the expense of the Suffolk County.....

If 0 was an option as a rating that would be my choice. this Judge has no right being in charge of people's lives. He allowed a man who put his wife in a hospital and abandoned his financial responsibility of the home for over 10yrs then allowed him to receive 50%. Refusing the wife to have access to his govt benefits and denying their child the rights to his pension if the wife should die before him. He forced this woman into a trial (while she was going through a Cancer diagnosis and recovering from a heart attack) Just utterly inhuman) when there was no prior intervention by the court to have the parties settle. A QDRO was withdrawn by the Judge after his ruling again to benefit the husband. A law suit should be filed against the State for allowing this Judge to make judgement without proper facts.

I have been a successful civil litigator for over 25 years - performing trials and appeals. Reilly is successfully vying to be the worst judge in the NY court system. Reilly granted a defendant physician summary judgment - despite competing experts creating an automatic question of fact - by actually mis-citing sworn testimony, relying upon inadmissible hearsay, scouring the record even beyond that discussed by the parties to include gratuitously disparaging material and prejudicial content. This judge clearly does not know the law, and quite frankly does not care.

Performance? He is a disgrace to the legal system he is an absolute violator of the constitution he is sworn to uphold n protect all rights of all equally! David t reilly has personally destroyed my life every which way he could he has refused to recuse himself with absolutely nothing to lose by doing so on 3 different occasions with clear evidence of his bias right in front of his face he uses children as pawns n allows them to b put in the middle n used to financially benefit the diseased n seriously flawed system n big business as usual he enables along with the extreme bias himself condones and enables daily that clearly lines the pockets of the attorneys n state agencies that profit greatly from it! I have been the victim of his unjust practice and have literally been robbed of everything I valued in my life as the direct result of his idea of interpreting the laws n all the facts n details he has blatantly ignored well over two years in his courtroom he has literally violated my constitutional rights parental rights n freedoms no parent should ever b denied unless they are convicted criminally! I have done nothing wrong to anyone ever and I have less rights to my child than an incarcerated criminal and I am forced to pay for supervised visitation one hour a week as the result of his blind orders and absent all or any fact rulings!

I have been a litigator before this judge and have evidence of docket tampering, misstatements, fraud upon the court, clear biased, and have even served a motion to recuse with 31 exhibits displaying why this judge should recuse himself all to be ignored. Three years, $126,000 and I've come to discover that I've spent this time divorcing the judge, my spouses' attorney, and the state, everyone except my spouse himself. Not one pleading has an affidavit from my spouse yeah this judge enters a judgment of divorce but not one signature from either lit again and has mistatements within the actual judgment it self

In the two years I have been under this judges orders he has only violated every constitutional right I should have had as a man and parent and only aided and enabled my ex wife to do the same all while never even asking one question about anything relevant or accused the entire way through!! Two years of child support ordered on me while my child has been intentionally alienated from my life and literally stolen from my home and intentionally put into a very avoidable situation as a first and only option for the plaintiff! I have been on the defense the entire way through for all the time and never have I been allowed to actually defend myself or even participate in my own litigation! All backroom collusion against the best interests of my family and child that has been destroyed and intentionally put in the middle and used as a bargaining chip to stuff the pockets of the attorneys and the system that always gets their cut! This judge uses no fault divorce as an excuse to financially benefit the attorneys and system he clearly enables along with the spiteful bitter women that are favored by it!

From all I have read about this judge David T reilley he has two kids of his own and a school teacher wife which I am amazed at the carelessness and complete destruction he has caused my life and family with his blind rulings and ignorance of all the details and facts he has either chosen to ignore or just doesn't care about the lives and well being of others underneath his Honorable self? I would love to see how he would react or handle any of the circumstances he inflicts onto others by ruling and ordering the taking of all the valuable things one has in life emotionally and financially destroying people and their futures as well

I believe he is a Suffolk County judge not Nassau county. He definitely is bias towards famales and has an old school archaic outlook on divorce. Mom always gets custody and he will never award custody to father, even under dire circumstances. In that instance, he will punt his responsibility since he is not only bias, he is a coward who only cares about votes

This judge has no idea whist it is like to be a father even though he has two children of his own. He has taken children away from their parents and I have watched him laugh with attorneys while the people stand in front of him, crying that their lives are being torn apart. I vow to make sure that he does not get elected again and that EVERYONE, including his own children, know what he has done to destroy families rather than care that the people work things out. I do not care if he is running again in 10, 15, or 20 years, and I do not care how much money I have to spend but he took my kids away and we have all suffered. I don't ever take drugs or drink, I have a job and my ex has done everything possible and this judge has helped. I don't understand. Very sad.

This judge does not pay any attention to the real issues. He does not listen. He has NO heart. Doesn't care about the real destruction of families. He will grant custody even when there are drugs and abuse involved to the other parent. If you get this judge YOU are SCREWED! Most importantly, it takes forever for him to respond to anything. Cases linger for months or even in my case, over a year. That ruins lives. He makes biased decisions that are not all inclusive for facts.
