Appeared before him and was last on the calendar, so I was able to watch his entire calendar. What a treat. He obviously read all of his cases, listened to arguments and most importantly was fair and obviously knows the law. treated everyone decently - including a pro se litigant. A real jurist.

The trial bar is in for a breath of fresh air with Judge Fidel Gomez. He is a real human being with an amazing depth of case law, CPLR, and trial procedures. His demeanor is friendly, professional, courteous and extremely even-handed. He is respectful of the needs of the jury, the attorneys, the court staff and everyone else in the process. He will make serious attempts at settlement. He lets attorneys try their cases without undue distractions from the bench. He is extremely patient and is a true gentleman. Look for Judge Gomez to continue to be a bright and rising star on the bench.
