I had the pleasure of being the plaintiff in a case, where a relative colluded with another individual to steal my home. Judge Goodman (or GOOD WOMAN!) took the time to TYPE her response to a motion from the defendant to allow them to sell MY home from under me. She let them know in no uncertain terms, that she realized that they were openly and notoriously trying to steal my home from me, but that the burden was on them to prove that they were entitled to my home. I fought hard, could not pay my attorney, and almost lost my home--that's right almost, but didn't. That is another story for another time. My point is that she saw right through the, 'bull' and will be fair if you are a honest litigant.

At trial before Judge Goodman she made her disdain for me clear. In the middle of the trial I requested an adjournment so that my client could retain new counsel. She barked, "Motion denied, sit down!" After trial she dismissed my client's case, stated that my client was credible but blamed me for obfuscating my client's claims. Also, during one break, she came down from the bench to engage in a one-to-one conversation with the defendant, alone with him in the courtroom, laughing it up with him as if they were on a singles cruise together. A real nightmare.

In my one experience with Judge Goodman she was pleasant enough but her opinions on a dispositive motion were uninspired, and did not demonstrate a deep understanding either of the facts or the law. Not awful by any means, and the weight of her case load must be considered in any fair assessment, but overall her work product was not particularly impressive.
