This judge is very biased. He does not recuse himself even when he has personal relationships with those parties for whom he has been appointed to make reasonable decisions. He does not allow all the evidence, even when it is court ordered forensic evaluations. He has a long history of literally sacrificing the children (there are repeated well-founded reports of sexual molestation and gruesome murders, as in Syndey/Garrett Barr case) while trying to reunite them with the biological mother, even when there is clear and convincing evidence that such a relationship should be severed. In some cases, years have expired without any kind of mother-child interaction, and when presented with a change of venue, this judge refuses to allow the change.

I practice in multiple jurisdictions and he is by far the worst judge I have ever had dealings with. He treats the local attorneys who have no idea what they are doing, especially in regard to Indian Law, like they are saints and is completely biased towards the rest of the lawyers. The Sequoyah County legal system, from what little I observed of it, is terrible. I don't practice under my husband's last name but use my maiden name, and he asked me why I did that -- and didn't it make my husband uncomfortable! Unbelievable! His court reporter is also very hateful.

the Sequoyah County Justice system is a joke in itself. Its more like a Mafia. If you want justice in this county take it upon yourself. I know of quite a few offenders that they will not prosecute... ok I got it that they may be informants but how many free pass's do they get and victims get no justice? I mean really whos side are they on besides their own!

WOW...by reading the other comments I would think this is the worst Judge in the State. But I do not believe that. Judge Sprouse awarded me custody of my daughter, I am a single father. He did evaluate the evidence and considered the facts. He ordered some pretty strict visitation policies and a review of the case at a later date. There was NO special treatment for the "local" attorney....my attorney is from out of town. There has to be other reasons why this Judge ruled against you. But lastly....if a ruling isnt in your favor you or we as human beings will bad mouth any judge,

This judge has a long history of bias for those from the his county. An outside attorney is a must to keep this judge honest. He frequently allows local attorneys to beat up witnesses. In cases of minor children, forensic counselor testimony will be ruled as "hearsay". This judge will always look for the path of least resistance and will attempt to rule for those with which he has established relationships. This judge has a LONG history of being in the Sallisaw area, and is known to push the bar in his rulings for his friends. He is also known for ex parte communications with those he considers his inner circles. He certainly prefers the secrecy of his chambers rather than in the open session.

This Judge has a terrible presentation. He has difficulty enunciating the English dialect. He struggles to maintain order in his courtroom. He generally allows local attorneys to practice theatrics instead of law. He allows local attorneys to badger witnesses unmercifully. This Judge has no sensibility in making determinations for minor children or endangered adults. He will ALWAYS restore the rights of the biological mother, regardless of the evidence presented. He wither chooses to ignore such evidence or not allow it to be heard. Consider the case of Bridgette Barr. She stood before Judge Sprouse facing her ex-husband, who was refuting her request for visitation. Judge Sprouse being the "upright" man he claims to be, allowed Sydney and Garrett Barr be allowed unsupervised visits in their mother's home. Unfortunately, the mother and the two children were murdered in a manner not even fit for a horror movie. The two-year old was literally baked in an oven in the mother/boyfriend's home by the boyfriend. The Judge's reward for such incompetence, a pay raise, increase in his pension, and the ability to sit on multitudes of similar cases. He continues to use his philosophy of "restoring" the biological mother's rights at the expense of innocent children.
