After going through the family court legal system for many years that is suppose to protect our children, this judge has failed on every level. She not only did not follow the law but did not let me present my case as she was irritated with my attorney clearly did not care. Out of all the family court judges and criminal judges (domestic violence) Margo was the most unprofessional and unethical judge I’ve ever encountered. All of the previous judges followed the law and protected my kids from a dangerous sociopath narcissist, Margo not only went against highly respected expert recommendations and findings admitted into evidence but changed court orders based on fraudulent documents and letting my ex get away with committing perjury numerous times under oath. My kids will suffer the rest of their lives due to her negligence, ego and inability to follow the law. Thankful she does not have the power to destroy anyone else’s lives.

The saddest thing is that she knows better, but she simply doesn’t care. She would tell both sides, “you know what’s best for your child, if you don’t get along, I’ll make the decision”. Yes, that’s why people get divorced, they don’t get along anymore. So when that happens, it is your JOB to make an INFORMED decision - read the papers, be a jurist, don’t show up not even having flipped through the motions that were written with blood sweat and tears, by parents begging you to pay attention and do the right thing for their child.

Read the mediator’s report, and listen!! Please, please, listen! Stop acting like everyone is inconveniencing you by asking for justice. Use the robe you have been entrusted with to protect the children. They are the most hurt. And no, don’t threaten that if the parents don’t get along, you’ll make the decision, full knowing it is the wrong one. You’re so biased towards your cronies, the lawyers you know, that it’s become a money making venture when litigants hear who is going to be their judge - need to find the lawyer that Judge Lewis Hoy likes, so they stand a chance in her court room. Don’t ever think as a party, self represented, you will stand a chance with her if you don’t have someone on your side she knows.

It truly is a shame, because she could be awesome if she cared. She’s smart, she knows the system, she knows the law. She’s just stopped caring.

This woman has no place in our judicial system. She is unprofessional, with an ego that is so out of control that she is literally a danger to any who are unfortunate enough to come before her. I am a mother of 5 who was in an abusive marriage for 25 years. Armed with police reports of domestic violence and letters from our pediatrician and children’s teachers, I finally found the courage to leave my ex husband. Unfortunately, his attorney was best friends with the judge next door and Margo was out to make a name for herself, it being her first year as a judge. Due to my having to resort to food stamps, as my ex was starving me out, she berated me every time I came before her, telling the spectators gallery they were paying for me and my children to eat. She claimed to ‘know’ the kind of woman I was, asking me who was paying for my hair bleach when I told her my husband would cut be off financially as a punishment. Being a stay at home mom became me ‘refusing to work’ and, instead of enforcing the support he wouldn’t pay me, told me, “times have changed lady, get a job.” All very irritating, I’m sure you’ll agree, but she stepped her game up to what I can only describe as an irrational vindictiveness. As my ex threw out one accusation after another, all totally without evidence, Margo decided she was going to have some fun with me. After issuing insane orders such as, I wasn’t allowed to socialize with other people, and having to fill out a work order of 10 jobs a week and report them to my dead beat ex’s attorney, she really went for the throat. She restricted my time with my children to every other weekend, no sleepovers, after never having a day apart. My youngest was 7 years old and cried herself to sleep every night for the following year. Her older brother told me. She then gave me 15 days to vacate the home I had lived in for 25 years with no money and nowhere to go. It is now 6 years later and I am still homeless and have lived an absolute nightmare of a life. My children lost their childhood and struggle with anxiety and depression. They grew up without their mother. What else would one expect? I’m sure no one cares, or believes I didn’t deserve it or didn’t even finish reading this but that’s not my purpose here. I write this because I want HER to know what she did. She probably has convenient mechanisms in place to justify what an awful thing she did to me and my children but I want her at least to be aware of it. Margo Lewis, I struggle every day to forgive you for your senseless and inhumane behavior. I probably always will because Im not sure I will ever be successful in doing so. You should not be in the position of power that you are in because you are a petty and arrogant human being. How dare you! I hope you never have to experience the misery my children and I have been put through because you did not do the job you were entrusted to do. You do not just ‘know’ who people are, simply by looking at them, as you claimed you could with me. I adore my children and doted on them, without any help from my ex, who spent all his time either in the gym, raging at us or ignoring us completely. I provided over 30 letters from witnesses that all told this story. You do not have some super power or even a superior intellect that allows you to bypass looking at evidence and actually following the law. You have done terrible damage to people who didn’t deserve any of it, and I don’t know how you sleep at night. As awful as things have been for me, I am at least grateful that I am not you. I think that would be even worse. Now go live with it

This is a despicable and mentally unsound judge who has no business deciding anybody’s future! ESPECIALLY CHILDREN’S FUTURES. I had the sick pleasure of having her appointees as Minor’s Counsel just before she bought her way onto the bench. A position she never deserved. When mom’s boyfriend was physically hitting my child she never even asked my daughter about it. She even attempted to work with moms attorney to conceal it. I have documented every aspect and saved all her arrogant lying emails. My daughter who is 19 yrs now will confirm the details of this unqualified child abuser. Never ever let her decide anything for your child you will regret it.

I’ve known Judge Margo Lewis before she was a judge and was hard working lawyer. As a father going through child support issues her advice was “ Do the very best that you can,that’s all you can do “. That advice rings true today and follows me in a lifetime of decisions that I make. She’s a no nonsense judge, more than fair, but follows the law. She gets it, knows it and is extremely knowledgeable. A very bright judge whom will hopefully advance in her judicial aspirations. She does NOT hate men, a most respectful judge. And she’s very cool under fire. Take time to sit in her proceedings and watch her hard at work, the critics that write critical reviews have not taken the opportunity to see this judge at work. Thx.

This judge is terrible makes an opinion based off appearance doesn’t care for fathers fighting to be in their child lives. Favors woman tremendously. She likes to throw her “in charge” attitude around. Please Please do NOT re-elect this poor judge who has the mental capacity of a teenager.

This judge called my separated wife at home, told her to come to court, and ex parte took all my pleadings off calendar. I was allowed a telephone appearance, had called the court, but my call was not connected to the courtroom. At issue were legality of spousal support order and return of one of the CA houses for me to live in because I had no intention of returning to NC to live. To show me how cruel and tough she was, this judge generated an additional spousal support order of $200 per month that had already been paid. More than $70,000 has been garnished from my retirements.

Do not re-elect. Cares more about her personal affairs than getting through the clogged court calendar. Go and observe her in court- extreme delays. Long lunch breaks. Usually late. Often tried to finish early for “personal matters.”

Judge Lewis Hoy is incredibly gender-biased in her rulings. She views stay-at-home moms and working moms as saints walking among us and gives Dads/men the short end of the stick. This woman is destroying the lives of children and Dads and should have her record investigated for favoring one sex over another.

People love to lie in Family Court!! Margo hoy is very matter-of-fact and not up with the bulshit,She has logic. People complaining about her are the people that are dishonest. I can guarantee you I was very truthful in my testimony with this judge and the outcome of my case got better because of her while the other party continued to lie and tell outlandish talls. I rate this judge five stars!

Agree with other reviewer. Arrogant. ALWAYS late. Drags things out as opposed to coming to resolution so the court calendar is even more congested.Doesn't appear to want to make any bold decisions that might be appealed so her record stays clean

Judge Margo Lewis Hoy changed her name to avoid her previous bad reviews when she was known as Judge Margo Lewis. No matter what she calls herself she is arogant, lazy, and perhaps one of the worst judges in San Diego
