From the earliest days in my career Judge Haskins has been presiding in West Justice Center. At first, his Honor's appearance is likely to be perceived as serious or strict, and with respect to certain elements of litigation that is true, however his voice and tone with which he addresses the Court is markedly soft-spoken and very calm.

The saying, "Not One For the Games" rings true 100%. When compared to other Judges presiding in Orange County, Judge Haskins gets things done. Earlier when I mentioned his appearance being strict, in this respect he absolutely makes sure that cases do not dawdle or linger. He does not take 1 hour to handle a plea. He does not make people wait as though a room filled with 100 people have nothing else to do and no schedules to abide by. As a defense attorney, that is very very important to me. Is this Judge going to take 2 hours to give me 2 minutes or, is this Judge Haskins where I know I can count on getting a case called within 15. Literally, every time.

I would like to address another point that should absolutely be taken into consideration of "rating" an Orange County Judge. When I found out that Judge Haskins was practicing with the District Attorney's office prior to his election, I would not have believed it. This is an important point because at the heart of the matter how does a person who has pled allegiance to and kept the confidentialities of...any law firm...be it the DA, the PD or Knobbe and then suddenly find themselves in the precarious position of maintaining neutrality at the professional level. The fact that it is impossible to know that from his rulings, decisions, chambers conferences or Court offers, alleviates any concern of bias and absolutely sets his HON. apart from so many others.

In the past 5 years, my clients have received nothing but love, honestly. Judge Haskins has a dry sense of humor, probably because as a Judge that is the only kind that works, but do not mistake that for consternance. If you ask for a chambers, you wont leave disappointed or be required to come back after lunch. Its always been a pleasure.
