Litigant

Comments:
How anyone could give this judge a rating higher than a zero is mind boggling. He contradicts his prior orders, makes false accusations that he can never back up, engages in ex-parte communications and is an advocate for the defense. He is beyond calculating and his primary goal is to destroy a pro per litigant for having the audacity to file a lawsuit. He ignores the law and precedent and looks for ways to hold you in contempt without even following contempt procedures. He can’t make a ruling without a transcript and has entered unprecedented orders for over a year and a half. He is currently the subject of a recall and is a danger to the bench.

Had a recent matter involving a mechanics lien to be removed. Judge Falls handled it efficiently, intelligently and with even a bit of humor. It was a straight forward matter but the Judge tried to make the process easy, was considerate and helpful, not always the case with other judges.

Ian and action on a promissory note, after acknowledging that defendant had submitted no opposition to a motion for summary judgment and none of his defenses were viable, Judge Falls continued plaintiff's motion for summary judgment on the grounds that his submission of his family doctor stating that an unnamed neurologist had examined the defendant and "believes" that defendant's memory loss is due to mild cognitive impairment. No authority was cited for this bizarre proposition. Is this the insanity defense to an uncontested claim on a promissory note? Judge Falls recommended that the wife of the defendant, who is in pro per, going to probate court and have conservator appointed which Judge Falls said would be the wife but also that he was not advising her to do this (just making suggestions?). Judge Falls said that it was not a question of whether judgment would be entered against the defendant but when. Judge Falls repeatedly said he felt very sorry for the defendant and his wife but cited to know law for this continuance or abuse of discretion.

Ordered that a pro per of less than modest means being monitored for cancer recurrence pay $27,000 to a discovery referee, and another $18k is coming on August 18 ignoring decades of case law. The man is incompetent, vindictive and a tyrant. LARecalls.com.

He hates pro per litigants. Does not read their filings. He is allowing OPC to file motions to allocate $28k discovery referee fees on to a pro per litigant and refuses to consider economic inability despite substantial case law. Remove him from the bench. LARecalls.com

If viable judicial oversight existed this Falls would be out of a job. He is beyond terrible. He doesn't know or remember the law. He dares counsel to challenge him and appeal his decisions. But makes his most inflammatory remarks after turning off the recording.

Judge Thomas Falls is lazy, disregards the law and facts. and biased towards the plaintiff. Unprofessional and egregious at every turn! Recuse this judge! Protect your client and the integrity of our judicial system.

Comments:
Nice man but very conservative. He certainly listens to the evidence and gives attention to counsel when arguing; however, perhaps his years as a prosecutor have made him conservative to the extent that he leans toward the defense.

Judge Falls is a disaster, master manipulator with no regard for the rule of law. Be very wary if you are stuck with him and cannot get a new judge. Falls likes to go off record to badger and bully the defendant. Object every time he says he wants to go off record. There is not a court report present just audio taping. Beware this judge has ulterior motives.

In my 50 years of practice I've never had a judge treat my civil case as though the defendant were a criminal, constantly stated such no matter how many times I informed him my client is has never been arrested or convicted of any crime. This judge rules any way he wants -- the rule of law be damned! It is my opinion this judge is influenced by outside parties.

Thomas Falls sitting on the bench is a travesty of the law. Falls blatantly hates defendants, ignores the law, dares counsel to appeal stating he doesn't care, and is unethical immoral making back room deals. If assigned to his court -- Get a new judge! He's an angry hateful fat man!

Terrible. A drain on tax payers. Absolutely no empathy, doesn't even attempt to consider or read any recommendations from other courts, programs, current status reports on progress. Single minded and tempermental in the court room. Likes to overfill the jails in his power trips.

The President of the United States declared a national emergency of opioid addiction. An epidemic. This is how Judge Falls responds to this emergency. A 32 yr old father, first time in 15 years sober, just successfully completed a 6 month program with Salvation Army, enrolled in a 2nd phase, helping others with their addiction, and at the beginning of getting his family and career back. Judge Falls sees fit to put him in JAIL for 3 weeks for a past warrant of paraphernalia and narcotics. Bet LA taxpayers love this judge!! No wonder on overcrowded jails.....

Very unprofessional! In my opinion he shouldn’t be a judge. He makes hasty decisions without even really looking at the information or the individual. He is a good reason why our California jail system is over crowded.

Not the worst judge in Pomona. Would go to him over several other judges there.

Unlike many other judges in Pomona, Judge Falls is deceptively pleasant on the bench. His folksy style becomes a tad annoying with his kneejerk rulings in favor of the prosecution and his tendency to make up the law as he goes along.
