Litigant

Comment #: CA53792
Rating:1.0
Comments:
Pretend-folksy, unpredictable, unprofessional demeanor. Does not read pleadings, shows up unprepared thinking he can “wing it”. Makes serious mistakes, then becomes flippant. Somehow managed to issue separate, contradictory rulings - one for plaintiff and one for defendant! When it became obvious that he was heading for a judicial review panel, he dumped the work on litigants’ attorneys asking them to figure out a way to correct his errors. The case eventually got resolved in my favor, but not until another judge took over. His clerk was just as incompetent.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Rating:1.0
Comments:
Cold hearted. Uninformed. Pompous. Unable to admit when making mistake. Courtroom manner is abominable.

Litigant

Comment #: CA38688
Rating:1.0
Comments:
The Judge’s behavior was so egregious that his ruling was a proximate cause of my husband’s suicide just hours after Judge’s unfair ruling. He was presented a fact filled case, backed up by very strong evidence. He obviously did not read the pleadings, and ruled in favor of a criminal who only appeared by phone. This was a plea for Elder Abuse protection which was denied. Unfair.

Civil Litigation - Private

Rating:3.9
Comments:
He's overly impressed with himself without good cause. He is not particularly decisive. He's wrong on the law.

Civil Litigation - Govt.

Comment #: CA7444
Rating:2.8
Comments:
Indecisive. Egotistical. Phony friendly demeanor. Not an intellectual. Does not write intelligible, organized or accurate orders. Doesn't remember facts or law. Very moody. Abusive towards attorneys. Then apologetic. Unpredictable and mercurial. Political. Dangerous, no matter what side of case you're on.

Not that great of a judge, however, either are most of the Sonoma County Superior Court Judges, with the exception of two or three.
