I can no longer remain silent. [redacted by Ed.] I dated James Okland for 2.5 years and always owned my own home. After we broke up in 2011, I was served with co-habitation 6 months later. Judge Faust treated me like a "Scarlett Woman" because James & I traveled together. In the hearing, a person testified that I did NOT move out of my home yet in the summary of the hearing it stated I DID move out of my house. When I brought that to the court's attention I was told it was a typo.
The difference between Did and Did Not is big. Judge Faust stopped my future alimony and ordered me to pay back the alimony with interest. I took this biased ruling all the way to the Supreme Court and in August 2017 they ruled in my favor. Bradley Scott sued me again for the same thing; this time, the Supreme Court ruled against me in July 2019. The costs of attorneys for 8 years and the ruling to repay the alimony (which is very unusual) caused me to file for bankruptcy. Bradley Scott is worth millions, we were married for 25 years and I was a stay-at-home mother for our 4 children. With the help of a discriminatory legal system against women, he has financially destroyed me. I am now 68 trying to support myself with no professional background. I would think Utah with its religious beliefs would have protected me not punished me. Shame on Judge Faust and the entire Utah Legal System. Scott vs Scott

Why is the incompetent still on the bench? he is the most rated judge, 31 and cant get past a 2.

Something is wrong with him. His mental capacity is off, he has a GOD COMPLEX and decides before hearings, evidence, procedure, law what the outcome will be.

He enjoys hurting those in front of him, hates woman, is lazy and DANGEROUS.

So, he needs to be voted out or removed.

Judge Faust is efficient (let's his clerk make his decisions for him and quick to rule from the bench). I believe he's wise to do this because he's incapable of understanding and applying the law in most cases. He's an utter disgrace to the justice system. I have three sets of attorneys who all concur. What's worse is the appellate courts give him carte blanche and he continues to be re-elected for his last name (at least that's why I voted for him before I saw first hand how egregious he is).

Judge Faust consistently is abusive from the bench. BEWARE if you have the unpleasant experience of having to deal with him. He WILL destroy your rights to DUE PROCESS, PROCEDURE, LEGAL STATUES, BUSINESS, PROPERTY, FAMILY RIGHTS,TIMES LINES, CONTEMPT ETC..

ITS THE LAW ACCORDING TO FAUST NOT STATUE. Why this incompetent, unjust, prejudice abusive and DANGERROUS judge is still on the bench is a tragedy and danger to the citizens of the Salt Lake City area. ITS WRONG!!!!

Their is a saying in life: "The true character of a man shines bright when:
1.) He is fighting for his life.
2.) He is given power.

Judge Faust has abused his power for years now. Time for him to go.

I faced Judge Faust in a matter related to child support arrearages for a child that was not mine. I was represented by a public defender, but largely represented myself. I had the public defender file motions and assist with things I wasn't sure about. My opinion of Judge Faust is that he is reasonable, but tough. I had heard many terrible things about him from attorneys and litigants that didn't reflect the experiences I have had in his courtroom. Respect is a big thing with him. If you show him absolute respect and come prepared to argue your case, he is a delight. If you are not prepared or act like you are annoyed to be in court, you should expect the worst. Many of these 1 star reviews seem like they come from people who are upset that they didn't get their way. In my opinion, this man is definitely worthy of your respect.

Judge Faust (and I use the title loosely) is a complete disgrace as a judge. I’m sorry I only had the option of giving him a 1 star rating My husband lost a civil case solely due to flagrant malpractice of his attorney but had Faust had any brains whatsoever he would’ve known the truth. He then unlawfully allowed my car and my daughter’s car to be taken even though we’re not parties to the case and those cars were proven to be paid for by us and always in our names. He then allowed the adversary to take my husband’s malpractice case. This will almost certainly be overturned at the Supreme Court level as Faust is the only judge in the nation to do something so inane, unlawful and unjust.

Judge Faust is not only incompetent he is unstable and dangerous! He practices law and procedure according to Faust sick and unstable mind not the law. He seizes property unlawfully, ignores arrest warrants, drives businesses and needed jobs from the state. More comments are about him, and negative ones than any other judge on this site. Contempt and fines are his favorite bully tactics. He is too lazy to be a real judge. He all ready has his mind made up which side he will favor. WHY?!! WHY DOES SOMEONE WITH THE RIGHT AUTHORITY TAKE THE STEPS NECESSARY TO GET HIM REMOVED? This is a question that needs to be asked. HE IS DANGEROUS!!

He clearly has his mind pre determined, during pre trial judicial system was down he had no facts about the case and instead of remaining unbiased he stated his own personal beliefs there for when trial came he threw out all evidence with the exact words being "the past is the past, you cannot change the past" the past he is referring too happened for the last 5 years with the most recent case of it being 1 month before the trial hearing. The exact same situations that have been going on for the preceeding 5 years. And it happening during the whole process clearly shows the person will never change however he did not look at the exhibits the exhibits being e-mails, recorded phone calls, text messages, as well as home surveillance footage. This man is absolutely disgusting with the way he handles cases. And the best part is I was just a silent observer for the case. I have no ties involved. This man needs to be disbarred from the whole system.

Judge Faust ruled in my case before he ever heard arguments or seen evidence. He allowed a ex spouse and her friend to steal close to 100k equity in a home during a divorce proceedings. Judge Faust went out of his way to dismiss evidence and ignore the truth that was in text messages and emails. I was awarded custody of the children and Judge Faust had no concern for the well being of the children. He was more concern about a selfish spouse who abandon her children and home. The spouse has not seen or had any contact with the children since leaving about 2 years ago. Somehow Judge Faust believed that a person who held out for over a year wanting equity walked away from that money 2 weeks before a court date. Makes a person wonder how is there any justice?

At first I thought Judge Faust was purposely and maliciously abusing the law. After many hearings since, I am confident this is not his intent. This former US Postal Service attorney is however decidedly incompetent and unquestionably lazy. I blame myself and people like me for re-electing this imbecile. When voting for judges there really isn't a way to research their record so I voted him in based on his last name. I'm sure his father is rolling over in his grave.

It is baffling that this train wreck of a Judge is still on the bench. He has conversations with "certain attorneys" with out the other attorneys present and decides the outcome of cases BEFORE evidence is presented or trials take place. Something is very wrong with this Judge, you feel the evil when dealing with him. His ratings are horrible LESS THAN A 3! If any other establishment or business got that kind of rating they would be done. Yet, he sits year after year as a judge destroying peoples lives, businesses and opportunity's. When will the Judicial Conduct Committee wake up and have him removed?

I thought I had broken free from this abusive relationship, but Judge Faust's ruling has made sure that my abuser has control over me for three years. THREE years. Judge Faust is a pro-state judge in every way. He is unfair, pompous, lazy and quick to make mistakes. There is no way that you will be treated fairly in a case against the state when Judge Faust is the judge. He can't separate his religious theology from his judicial thinking, such as there is. Judge Faust is not someone you want on your case if you have legal issues, because he won't take the time to look into them. His scholarship is poor and he is inherently lazy, so your issues won't get a fair hearing. Judge Faust needs to retire because he is just mailing it in and collecting his paycheck. He is not very bright, and is intellectually lazy. He is a biased pro-state judge with little ability and little commitment to his job. Laziness and arrogance are his calling cards. He is like many Mormons: not very bright or inquisitive, prejudiced through and through and unable to honor a litigant's rights. I advise you to avoid this fool whenever possible.

It seems the haters and unhappy litigants & their counsel are somewhat unfamiliar with J. Faust's thorough research and preparation for each case which comes to his bench. J. Faust is prepared and has an A++ handling of evidentiary and procedural issues. You can expect an impartial decision maker who makes a ruling based on the law and finding of the facts. Unmatched compared to other judges on the bench in Third District. I have known this individual 10 years personally and professionaly on the bench and this judge is remarkably fair in his judgment of his cases. And yes - expect to be verbally reprimanded for committing your crimes and violating court orders...someone has to do it. Any judge who does not critize the criminals is not doing their job.

Bob Faust is no better than Warren Jeffs. They share the same cult and suffer the same delusions. Jon Huntsman showed why he cannot be President when he appointed Bob Faust to the Judicial Bench. This Judge, has his mind made up before he ever see's the defendant. He is very closed minded and has an opinion, already formed before any evidence is given. I think he needs to do civil law only and leave the criminal cases to someone who will be fair and impartial.

Judge Faust is bias, unjust, and unreasonable. If the crime is one that “disgusts him” as he stated, do not expect the punishment to fit the crime. He is very vocal about his dislike of some people. The bailiff picked up a pair of handcuffs as soon as he heard the charges – already knowing what the judge would do.
My son viewed online child pornography at the age of 18. I absolutely do not condone this behavior and believe that he should be accountable for his actions. But in Utah an 18 year old boy looking at a naked 17 year old girl online is considered a felony. The law does not distinguish between those who view this and those who make it. It does not matter if you are 18 or 58. It did not matter that he willingly underwent a psychosexual evaluation which indicated he was not considered a threat and was not interested in children. My son took full responsibility for his actions, cooperated with law enforcement, and has no previous record. He pled guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor – both second degree felonies.
After Judge Faust told him that “he was a disgusting human being and he would pay for his crime,” he sentenced him to 6 months in jail, 3 years probation, 300 hours of community service, and a lifetime requirement to register as a sex offender. I watched as one crime after another including people who were in the United States illegally with a long criminal records, drug dealers, men who broke into homes robbing and assaulting the homeowners were given NO jail time, no personal opinion of how disgusted they made him, and at the most 40 hours of community service. This BYU graduate has very obviously let his religious beliefs and personal views impact his judgment. My son would have been much better off if he were LDS.

This judge is an embarrassment to the justice system. He gave me an award of $1.7mm but allowed 4 years of the defendants contempt and spoliation of evidence costing over $500,000 in legal bills and costs before doing what he should have done in a matter of 6 months at 1/10 the cost. Absolute lazy and incompetent idiot! Full Stop!

Faust is a very biased judge and has a pre-determined winner in the case. If you are not on his "Pre-determined" winners side, you will get zero time for rebuttal, jail time, contempt, etc. He will only listen to the views he wants to and will not acknowledge anything else past that.

Clear example of outrageous wrong for "family and religious tie appointment" putting incompetent; unqualified; dangerous man in a position of power, to destroy persons and businesses constitutional and lawful rights and freedoms.(Shame on Gov. He should not be a judge. He does not understand procedure law, does not read pleadings, allows ex-parte communications with attorneys that are innapropriate. He makes his mind up about the person or persons in the case, justice is to be blind. He uses his court room and his name as a bully pulpit. No be very afraid. This Judge has disappointed me and my family beyond belief. He awarded my ex-husband temp. custody of my children after he had tried to commit suicide and kidnapped them. He made me go through almost a year and thousands of dollars to get them back. My ex doesn't support his children now and this judge will not allow me to move out of state with my children to be close to my family and more support. Faust has disappointed my children and my family. I did get my kids back...thus the 2 stars...thanks to the Custody Evaluator...no thanks to Faust.

This Judge(and I use that term very lightly) has displayed open hostility and resentment to litigants. He seems to have a personal and obvious agenda as to whom shall prevail in a case. He readily violates both Constitutional and Civil rights with the level of arrogance that won't allow him to see any opinion other than his own. I find it sad that his Staff would be the only positive vote of confidence on this site.
