Comments:
The only good thing about Jan L. Brodie is that she is retired as a judge. She is 100% biased. She cannot separate her personal beliefs from her professional obligation. She violated at least two Canons of Judicial Conduct during the case. Regarding the sentencing guidelines, Brodie had this to say: “Punishment is due in this case. The guidelines are way out of whack on this.” This is verbatim (I have the transcript). She gave the maximum sentence on every charge, despite the recommendations of her own colleagues and the state of Virginia, to a 20-year-old with no criminal record, no history of drugs and alcohol. She also gave 8 years’ probation to this youngster. She is reckless, does not do her due diligence in prepping for her cases, and succumbs to media and peer pressure. That is how she rules. She does no thinking of her own. She is lazy, so she just takes what the prosecutor says at face value, she listens to the public hysteria, she listens to her own personal beliefs. These are the factors that she bases her sentencing on, rather than the law itself. She is not capable of understanding human behavior and has zero compassion for young people who made one bad decision. She believes that young people cannot be rehabilitated (she said this in her closing remarks). Her solution is to lock them up and throw away the key. She ruins lives with recklessness. She is a monster, plain and simple.

Judge Jan L. Brodie (Ret.) exemplifies what it is to be the WORST possible judge.

Yes, she is retired but she still works at the McCammon Group so BEWARE! My advice would be to choose another mediation company and avoid Jan L. Brodie at all costs! If you don't, you'll be sorry.
