Hon. D. Charles Bailey (Washington)
If you protect a child you are literally on trial in this judges courtroom. The more assets you may have the harsher the penalties he will order on you. He often does not write an opinion of how he came to his decision. Children of a credible age are not heard in his courtroom.

It is unfortunate when a Judge who comes to a case at the tail end of it allows bias planted by the opposing council to influence how they treat a defendant. Or like in my case the Judge mistakes a defendants desperation & pleas as them being combative and non cooperative. When what is actually going on is a horrible injustice that has been allowed to go on and on and had the judge simply asked the defendant or asked herself what was going she would have been able to step in and assure that a person the system failed so egregiously could start to have an actual shot at experiencing justice. Brantley obvious signs of misconduct and law violations but you did nothing but speak down to the victim. That’s a failure in your duties and that failure causes harm. sometimes like in this case that means putting the already victimized individual through more unnecessary punishment.

Favors putting children in the care of a convicted woman abuser. He broke my face when he punched me in it and he has my baby he burned and bruised my autistic son and admitted to it on text and the judge wouldn't even look at it. He doesn't want to hear anything a poor woman with no attorney has to say only the abusers high priced attorney that mommy and daddy paid for. terrible judge and from the sounds of him he is not a good person either . I hope my case gets moved to a different courtroom. It's like being abused by someone all over again. He won't listen to any proof of the mens character or even allow questions that refer to his character. how often this abuser has even cared for the child changed a diaper fed the child properly. only puts down and uses scare tactics to get abused women to agree to anything he or the man asks for.

Worse judge in the state. Will not listen to simple reason. Decides matters before he knows the facts.

He let my ex husband kidnapp my kids then deliberately dragged out our court hearings then at the trail said I was innocent of all my ex accused me of but since time had already been established it wouldn't be in the kids best interest to uprooted them again so my ex got full custody. But they did nothing about the fact they were uprooted from me who had full custody for their entire life. This judge is a disgrace

As a mother fighting to protect my children, I am appalled by Judge Charles Bailey’s decisions and conduct in family court. He disregarded overwhelming evidence of abuse and trauma, ignored the professional recommendations of therapists and evaluators, and forced my children into unsafe situations under the guise of “reunification.” Worse, he dismissed my attempts to advocate for their safety as “alienation” and used his position to coerce me into agreeing to rulings that went against every piece of evidence supporting my case. Judge Bailey’s actions have caused irreparable harm to my family, and it is clear he prioritizes personal biases and outdated ideologies over the well-being of the children who depend on him for protection. His court is no place for vulnerable families seeking justice.

Hon. Susie L. Norby (Clackamas)
Judge Norby oversaw a very complicated and emotionally charged child custody case that spanned 2+ years in Clackamas County. This custody case was not for the faint of heart and included 5 different attorneys representing three adults and three children. This case at one point required the assistant attorney general to be present due to documents being used as evidence and the department of child services being involved. Judge Norby made it clear from the state of the case that her job was to protect the children and do what was best for them, regardless of what the adults believed or thought was best. At the time the case began the children were 10, 6 and 4. By the end they were 12, 8 and 6. Judge Norby navigated everything that was thrown at her by five different attorneys, a child custody evaluator and child protective services with grace and wisdom. The kids were terrified (its court, who wouldn’t be) however, Judge Norby went out of her way to make the kids feel comfortable. Including talking to them privately in chambers and when the court rules wouldn't allow for that, she proceeded to sit with the kids, at the table, away from her bench, with her judicial robe off, and color with them to discuss their feelings, thoughts and experiences. This Judge is one of a kind and special. Though the adults (none of them) were ever her focus, she respected and empathized with everyone in that courtroom every single day that court case continued. Judge Norby has an unwavering dedication to upholding justice, impartiality, and has an unmatched wisdom in her decision making. Her innate ability to listen carefully is a pillar for the Clackamas County legal system. She does her best to ensure fair and equitable outcomes for all parties involved; essentially, she is seen as someone who strives to act with integrity and fairness even in the most complex situations, while providing a sense of stability and order within the legal process. Those children will forever be indebted to her for commitment to treating all parties as equals and her patience to carefully consider all sides before reaching a decision that created ripples of positive change for generations to come.
